During the first years of iOS we had the wonderful emulator from Manomio. Then Elite launched a very good app with a lot of games. Now: 1) Manomio seems not to exist anymore. I tried to tweet him two years ago. He told me he was working on a new c64 version, but now everything seems to be dead. 2) Elite had problems with rights, and it's more than one year the pulled its apps from appstore. So, is there any legal alternative, to play C64 games on iPad and iPhone?
Manomino's C64 app was one of the ones I lost moving to a 6+ The app appeared grayed out "waiting" - my guess is that my settings came over, but the app didn't. Trying to install the app from IPA file threw iTunes errors. Exactly the same thing happened with SDBall, Best of FTA, iDOS and a few other 'banned' apps. (All of which I paid for - I'm not jailbroken.) Elite seems to exist, just not in the US App Store. However I am able to download previously downloaded items via 'Purchased' (Got SDBall and iDOS back this way as well!) So... check the Purchased section of App Store on your device, and grab PowerDOS while it still exists so you can at least run a DOS C64 Emulator.
I remember with that old C64 app you could add your own games anyway (much like the spectrums spectaculator)
I already tried to run C64s and PC64s on PowerDOS but they are terribly slow on my iPad Mini Retina...
Have both CCS64 (dos version, easiest to use IMHO) and VICE (my favorite C64 emulator, DOS version isn't as friendly as the windows one) running fine on my 6+ Have you tried upping the number of cycles? Also, it shouldn't make a difference, but I've reconfigured DOSBOX to load me a Gravis Ultrasound instead of the default SoundBlaster.
Upping the number of cycles was the right solution. THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!! I didn't know how to increase them. If you have other hints to use PowerDOS, I'm here. Now I want to try all emulators on DOS with that app. I've solved my problems about C64 emulation, even if on DOS is not so perfect, but good for most games. Thanks again!
Glad I could help. I am very surprised that PowerDOS is not only still in the AppStore, but has received several updates!
That's not the point though. I love emulators (have many on my phone) and have a lot on my PC. Just not that easy taking my PC everywhere Atari 2600 and C64 are two emulators you can't get for non jailbroken phones
