Busy on my phone about to get back into Indiana Stone but saw this. Great game. Ashame to see a sale so quick but can't be upset as it is worth well more than the original two bucks. If someone can do me the honors of posting a link.

Pennsylvania, U.S. #6 SumoSplash, Mar 22, 2013 Yeah, no doubt worth the original 2 bucks, and Volbard has been super responsive on here, so he'll get no heat from me for the quick price drop... However, I'm telling you, I am getting irritated by this trend more and more. You are being forced to walk the line between waiting for the sale and trying to do the right thing and not wait for the sale. What is the point at buying a game at full price? It's not about the actual money for me..just how quickly the prices drop. I get the most irritated when the app description mentions its a special limited time sale, then a few days later drops to free. These comments aren't directed at Plasma Sky. Just what I've experienced ever since owning an idevice. Volbard Well-Known Member Feb 26, 2011 125 0 0 http://plasma-sky.com #10 Volbard, Mar 22, 2013 Hey guys, here's an explanation of the early sale. I can't speak for other devs, but their thought process is probably similar. I'd rather not have a sale so soon, it does feel like kind of a jerk move towards early supporters, but it's one of the few levers I have to keep the game from falling into obscurity. Launching a game on iTunes can feel like tossing a stone into a river. Maybe it was a really pretty rock, but once it dips below the surface, it's gone man. People who play the game seem to really like it, but a pretty small number of folks have checked it out. Apple just listed Plasma Sky in the game's New and Noteworthy section, so having a weekend sale at the same time seems like my best shot at rising in rank and getting more people to see its little orange icon in the store. I've launched games on Steam, and the slower pace there is great, but they don't get over 800 new apps a day like iTunes does. If my next game on iTunes has a higher profile for some reason, I'll be able to slow down and put off the sale, but for this one I think it's what I need to do to float my rock a little further down-steam. (Isn't this a great analogy?) So, what are we to do as players and consumers, knowing that games are likely to drop in price soon after launch? Personally, it depends on how reasonable the launch price is, how I feel about the company, and obviously how eager I am to play. If it's a developer and game I want to support, I don't mind giving them an extra buck, because it's going toward the creation of more games I like. In the case of Plasma Sky, whatever extra money I get is likely to get rolled into buying more licenses, music, and possibly art for the next game and updates to this one. Anyway, long explanation! I hope everyone who get's Plasma Sky feels like they get their money's worth! I've got some more updates on the way, and I really appreciate your support! Misguided Well-Known Member Jan 27, 2009 2,346 19 38 #11 Misguided, Mar 22, 2013 Makes sense to me. It's kind of peculiar to think of one dollar being the threshold of an impulse purchase, but in the world of the App Store, that's true for many people. I don't blame you for wanting to take advantage of the exposure. And if you buy the gam for a dollar and think to yourself it was easily worth two, gift a copy to a friend. Nobunaga Well-Known Member Jun 2, 2012 1,094 0 0 #12 Nobunaga, Mar 22, 2013 I'm not the biggest fan of shmups on the iPhone. I'm picking this up purely on the basis that it has no IAP. It's not just a buck. It's a vote against micro transactions in games. Thanks volbard. Hope it gets up the charts and generates some sales for you. Misguided Well-Known Member Jan 27, 2009 2,346 19 38 #13 Misguided, Mar 22, 2013 Actually, I don't play shmups at all, generally, but I grabbed it for a dollar just because, and I must admit this game is pretty sick. This is like Galaga on acid. Touch. Controls work great. You can touch and hold anywhere on screen, it doesn't have to be on the ship, which is good. I like that you can continue, so if you suck at games like this, you can still see new things. nightc1 Well-Known Member Oct 19, 2012 4,362 0 0 AL #14 nightc1, Mar 22, 2013 Last edited: Mar 22, 2013 I do like shmups. Maybe not as much as some others here with their Cave games, but I do enjoy em. You make a good point though, this is the kind of dev I can get behind from the whole no IAP point. The dev has also been on the forums a bunch and that's a huge plus. I have been saving my few bucks ($3.31 a minute ago) for something I really want to play right now (or some unbelievably good deal), but I went ahead and downloaded this. Sure the game has nearly a perfect score from the user reviews, folks in the thread here seem to love it, and so on... so it's not like I'm throwing a buck away just to support a dev. I just hadn't planned on the purchase and I want to encourage others to throw caution to the wind and support the dev. EDIT: A BONUS? Install Size, 5.8MB. Not the smallest game on my iPhone (Lost in Rome 2 is 3.2MB, Piyo Blocks 4.9MB, & SuperOxWars is 5.1MB)... but it's in the top 5 of smallest games on it. awp69 Well-Known Member Oct 30, 2009 8,249 0 36 Greenville, SC #15 awp69, Mar 22, 2013 Yeah, I was amazed at this as well. I realize it's got vector graphics, but it's beautiful and tons of different enemies so it's shocking to have such a small size when I've seen other games with the same style at least 5x larger. Anyway, great game, supportive dev, no IAPs. No reason not to own this game unless you just completely hate the genre. I should note that this game is a good starting point for people just getting into shumps for the first time. It's not crazy hard like Cave games (not on the bullet-hell side of these games either). Hope this generates some sales and notice for the game! tops2 Well-Known Member Jan 21, 2011 2,067 44 48 #16 tops2, Mar 22, 2013 While I usually wait to pick up games, I picked this up due to the positive response from member, and most importantly the positive interactions from Volbard (the dev).
