Say do you guys know any games that had an up front cost but than in a update it turned free? Mind you I am not taking about a sale, I am taking about permanently free.
Since i don't get any Freemium game in my life so i don't know, i even can't touch Freemium games. Freemium games most are Android only.
He is talking about premium games turned freemium. Impulse GP was premium, then it became 100% freemium and now it's a mixed bag (free with a sort of premium IAP but currency is there).
Some of Gameloft's games were coverted to freemium. Modern Combat 5, Gangstar Vegas come to mind immediately. Galaxy on Fire 2 did as well I believe.
Yes,Gameloft did screw up with the freemium model, that is why Vivendi recently bought them.Btw Wasn't Gangstar Vegas alwasy F2P?I don't remember it ever having a premium price.
A couple I remember are Horizon Chase and Spell Sword. Thing is, The games are most likely deleted upon switching pay models, but these are two that remained solid for me. I believe Impulse GP is now freemium, maybe the reason why i had deleted it. These are the only ones i can remember, LOL.
Is really Horizon Chase turned to freemium? Description says "Try it before you buy: enjoy 5 tracks for free!" That isn't freemium in my opinion.
If you check the first post, the topic creator asked for games that had an upfront price that switched to zero.
What is "premium"? What is "freemium"? Might be that different people have different definitions about the matter. A pay to unlock full content is freemium? Or is freemium related necessarily with timers and multiple currencies?
Well, in my opinion pay to unlock full content isn't freemium. By the way there is a Wikipedia's page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freemium
Im with you on that... Just that the content of the post is usually what i perceive to be the entire thought of the poster, while the title is just a short version of it, which is why i based my suggestion on the content.
Impulse GP did the same thing Horizon Chase did. You get the first 2 tracks for free then pay once to unlock the full game. It does look like they made it easier by lowering the requirements for unlocking bikes.
Now it's like Horizon Chase (but with currency's IAPs, I see), before last update it was 100% freemium. In the beginning and for a while it was premium. It changes two times.
Don't know about individual games, but those within the same series did.... Plants Vs. Zombies was $3 ($1 at it's highest discount). PvZ2 is freemium. Dungeon Hunter was premium, but the 3rd one's now freemium.
That used to be Chi**ingo's policy. There is absolutely no excuse for games going from premium to freemium. The original customers who initially supported the game after paying for it end up getting screwed. I've learned my lesson the hard way. over the last few years. Here's an epiphany: Are all freemium match 3 games rigged? They have to be! The average consumer who plays the Crush Saga game's most likely is not aware of this. Other than coin doublers, world unlocks, or ad removers, iaps are bs. And tomorrow I go back to enjoying the hell out of Shadow Fight 2. #Self hypocritical
