We thought we'd post a bit of news about a new platform game we're publishing soon. We're just about to submit to the App Store, so hopefully we'll see it approved in the next week or two.

Captain CupCake and the Donut Disaster is a quick fun platformer full of cakes, chocolate, donuts and the dastardly Veggie Villains.

It's been created by Chaos Games Studio - a student who did a year long placement with us. This is his first game and he worked on it after his placement ended and he returned to university for the 3rd year of his degree. We're very pleased to be able to publish it for him!

    Description

"The Veggie Villains have struck again! All bakeries across the Isla Cocoa are reporting their Donut supplies missing. There’s only one man for the job – call Captain CupCake!

Guide Captain CupCake through the delicious levels to retrieve the missing Donuts. Gather the Donuts against the clock, whilst fighting off or outwitting the Veggie Villains. Use the helpful bouncy jellies to leap from platform to platform and grab bonus power-ups to beat all the levels."

Price: FREE - dozens of levels across 2 areas - first area regular difficulty, second area unlocked when you achieve 60+ stars on completion of the first area, and harder difficulty.

In-App Purchases: If you want more levels there are a further 3 packs (each at different difficulties) available to buy. They'll be 99c each.

Achievements and high scores: Game Center achievements and a High Score Leaderboard.

There are two ways to play through the game - maximise your points by collecting the golden donuts in order, or go for 3 stars on every level. Get all the achievements by doing both!

We hope to have a video for you early next week, but in the meantime, let us know what you think.

    Happy Friday!

They're quick easy play levels, but they can be tricky to get right first time, and you have 2 ways to play - collect golden donuts and go for maximum points and a high score, or aim for fastest times and 3 stars on every level.

I'll be keeping an eye on this one since I'm a huge fan of platform adventure games and the images are making me crave something sweet. :D

My only complaint is that the name sounds like it came from the story of a childrens pre school book. Maybe it's just me.

It appears so, definitely a switch from other platformer games.
    Looks interesting.

You go left or right. You choose the best way to get around the level depending on whether you're trying for shortest time or collecting golden donuts.

Oh, another thing on the jellies - different colours have different effects. :)

We've shot a quick demo video so you can get an idea of the game play. The game is now 'In Review' with Apple, so all being well, we should see the game released early next week!
