The gameplay itself is just as flawless..."5/5 -Gamezebo"Monsters Ate My Birthday Cake is one of my favorite games of the year."5/5 -TouchArcadeWarning: This game is crammed full of monsters, cake, amazing powers, puzzly bits, epic adventure, witty repartee, secret paths, unlockable characters, silly hats & a wiener dog. Use caution if you are allergic to fun or overly sensitive to cake-related pathos.ADVENTURE… EXCLAMATION POINT!As so many of these things do, it all begins on a magical island. In this case, Gogapoe Island, a place populated by both humans & monsters. What starts out as a mission to get back Niko's birthday cake becomes a quest for the fate of Gogapoe itself. But, ya know, cake is still super important, too!MONSTER MASH-UP!Oodles of friendly monsters will join Niko's quest & use their kooky powers to demolish obstacles & humiliate enemies. Hordes of evil monsters will cause mayhem & generally be jerkfaces, but that's nothing you can't fix with headbutts, frost breath, stink clouds & rainbow barf.EXERCISE YOUR BRAIN MUSCLE!Even with powerful amigos at your side, you're gonna need your thinking cap to get past these cerebrum-tingling environmental puzzles. And did we mention the bonus challenges that give you these really swell stars? You like stars, don't you?IT NEVER HURTS TO HELP!If side quests are your jam, Gogapoe is packed with people—& monsters—in need of roadside assistance. Send a little love their way, & you might discover hidden paths, unlock extra levels or earn unique swag, including special costumes that give Niko nifty powers of his own!SWEET TOUCH CONTROLS!With innovative touch controls so buttery smooth they could grease a cake pan, it's never been easier to manage a crew of big, hairy behemoths. Just draw a path, & they'll follow your instructions to a T, even if you swap to another monster to cue up a different action.ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK BY DISASTERPEACE!If all these weren't enough, the icing on this big ol' cake is 60 sweet minutes of original music written by composer extraordinaire, Disasterpeace. It's like dessert for your ears!Save the day & fulfill your monstrous cakelust all at once in MONSTERS ATE MY BIRTHDAY CAKE!***If you're having any problems with this app, feel free to contact us at [email protected].IMPORTANT CONSIDERATIONS:This app may contain ads for Cartoon Network & our partners’ products & services.PRIVACY INFORMATION: Your privacy is important to us at Cartoon Network, a division of Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. Hmmm Maybe they want increase the sales with a price drop because they know they will pull it down anytime soon? Just my speculation Tango Well-Known Member Sep 11, 2010 455 0 16 #5 Tango, Jun 29, 2014 They state in the app description it's because they hit 90/100 on Metacritic. Just capitalizing on extra visibility. How is the game for those who have played? spader623 Well-Known Member Jan 18, 2014 479 0 0 #6 spader623, Jun 29, 2014 That's a decent reason... But it just proves that you should never buy an app in the first... Month or so, because it'll go at least a little bit on sale. I'm a super casual gamer so I generally don't buy a game unless it really piques my interest. It's a 3-star based puzzle game that I've had a great time with since I bought it on release. You interact with people in your tiny town and monsters along the way, some of them give you errands to bring them something in return for something you need either in game or for another errand. After you beat each area the people in the town change their dialogue so it keeps it somewhat fresh. What I also like is that there are stages where it seems like you need a different costume to fully complete. The only thing I don't like about that is that I'm halfway through the 2nd area and I haven't figured out how to get the costume I need for the first area still. The game references "if you aren't properly dressed you should come back later" but I don't know when later is. Definitely an awesome game for full price, it's a steal at this price. Based Xatu Well-Known Member Aug 27, 2013 1,937 0 0 #19 Based Xatu, Jun 29, 2014 Freaking out on a $2 sale. matyou98 Well-Known Member Jun 18, 2012 293 3 18 #20 matyou98, Jun 30, 2014 I thought it was weird they raised the price from 3.99 to 4.99 for the USA release (check appshopper). Then came the 5 star reviews from several sites proclaiming this is the best game EVAR!!!! Then came release. People said it was fun but complained about the controls. I kept my eye on the thread here for the game and while people liked it it was not the phenomenon a game like threes (another highly rated game). Something struck me as fishy that such a highly reviewed game is getting a lukewarm reception (incentives for review sites to say great things about the game). Last statement is opinion not fact. Then came the price drop. I'm sure it's doing good but based on the games thread here it is not been received as well as almost any other 5 star game. (Battle heart legacy wayward souls). The game has been on my radar since there were many articles saying "mabc releases this week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!). Seeing this price drop I went ahead and purchased. I agree with everyone else. The controls on iPad are fine but can be more difficult on a phone. Game does have icloud which is great. I would say this is a 3-4 star game that has great (maybe plagiarized?) artwork. I still think something is up with all the sky high reviews but either way the game is decent (not the best thing since sliced bread as all the reviews would make you think. Just my 2 cents about this highly hyped game. (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
