    Hi :)

How was your first impression on hearing the name "Jewel Next?"

Someone posted this on one of my threads:
I'm not a native English speaker so I admit my weakness. (I lived in USA for about 5 years though.)

The reason why I named it this way:
My game is a match-3 game with a twist: Whenever you make a match, a new(or Next) gem will be created.

    Eg. A+A+A=B, B+B+B=C, ...

So I tried to make a easy name and came up with, "Jewel Next." Too bad, "Jewel Alchemy" was already taken by other developer.

I will be really happy to know your opinions.
    Thanks!

I like the name. Strictly speaking you're not supposed to put modifiers after nouns (green apple not apple green) but as you say it fits the mechanic and IMO has a nice ring to it.

Your logo in the screen shots veers a little close to the Konami logo. I think it's fine like you have it but giving you a heads up in case other people think it's too similar.

There's nothing wrong with the name. I'd love to see your game on android.

The thing with names is that no matter what they are, people inevitably get used to them and they start to sound fine. Names always tend to sound odd at first, and it's challenging enough finding good ones that havent already been used.

Thanks Athos, it's good to hear that someone likes the name.
Also first time I heard about our logo being similar to Konami logo.

I agree that all names sound clunky when you first hear or see them in print.

However if you want to imply game play through the name, Jewel Next does sound a bit "Yoda-ish".

Thesaurus of transformation gave some good ideas:

    ReJewel (a play on renewal)
    Jewel Exchange
ExchanGem - my favorite(I'd require payment of one king size candy bar for the rights to this)

At the end of the day if you like Jewel Next and you have a cool logo that works with it, go for it. Hopefully this won't be your last game so you will have plenty of chances to try other names in the future.

ExchanGem sounds good. I'm very willing to give you one gigantic candy bar if I use this name :D
I have more games to come but not in match-3 genres.
