I have been digging around to try and find decent Horror apps and seem to have hit a wall. These are the ones I have tried and enjoyed enough to be worth mentioning... -Trapped: Undead Infection -Silent Hill The Escape -Fallen EP-1 -Aftermath (somewhat horror) Are there any decent horror/adventure titles I should be aware of other than the ones I mentioned?
+1 on Soul -- scariest maze game ever. If you're into adventure games, check out Dracula: The Path of the Dragon.
What's so scary about Soul? I watched some gameplay and it looks decently creepy, but not the scariest game ever. Oh yeah, just go buy a Super Ninetndo and get Clock Tower. Or download the ROM of it, since it never came out in America. You will be freaked out.
Soul. You are concentrating like hell and literally afraid to hit the sides and if you do a certain number of times, BAM! Just like that you get the most nerve jangling death screen of all time.
Oh, so it's pretty much like a full game of that scary maze game where the face pops up if you screw up? Not a huge fan of those cheap scares. Umm... there's the resident evil games, but they're not scary. I can't really think of any games not yet mentioned. We really need some good old-school horror games.
I wrote "scariest maze game ever." You would agree that most maze games are not scary. This one is. It does have a few cheap scares, but what makes Soul stand out is the general atmosphere and themes -- you feel like you're in constant danger, responsible for the well being of someone's immortal soul.
HAHAHAHA! +1... On a side note, there are 3 awesome zombie games coming out here soon. NYZombies, Zombie Infection and Undead Refuge. (not to mention a 4th but I believe that one is still early beta)
Doom: Resurrection (awesome graphics) Dead Strike Dark Hill (old and simplistic—but honorable mention for being among the first to get FPS aiming right)
If you want a classic, the Mystique games are pretty creepy. I was too chicken to make it all the way through either one (I'm a wimp I guess) but they're pretty good and the graphics, to me, are still very nice. Dark, but very nice. I recently downloaded Hysteria Project and it's also creepy. It's an interactive movie, which basically means it's made up of cut scenes and you just get to choose the cut scene including which action you want to do. Sounds boring but it's really not. It gets the adrenaline going since it's from a first person point of view. On the Pricier and higher quality side, there's always Resident Evil: Degeneration. It has a lite version if you'd like to try it out to see if you like it. For those suggesting DOOM, it's a great game emulating a classic, and it's wonderful if you're into that kind of thing, but that alone is enough to deplete some of the scariness considering it's not close enough to reality to raise the hairs on your neck. Still, it's a thriller I come back to a lot!
