Hey, I've had my iPhone for over a year and while I went game crazy at first (I purchased like 20-30 games in the first year that I owned it), I got a little down on the platform because I kept on buying the kind of games that are really meant to be played with a game controller and instead were shoe-horned onto the iPhone's touch interface. Anyways, I've since wanted to jump back into the iPhone gaming scene. However, this time I am going to do it right. I want to play games that work great with the touch screen and/or games that were designed and developed with the iPhone in mind. Anyways, I would really appreciate it if you guys could give some recommendations for these kinds of games.
doodle jump boost 3d canabalt starball jet car stunts (although it should be for controllers, the dev made it perfect for ipod) Labyrinth 2
Er... I bought 30 games the first month I got my 3GS ... Play Pebble, GTA - Chinatown Wars, Swords & Poker, Labyrinth 2 or Gyrotate. These are fine games you will enjoy - with great controls! edit: oh my - forgot: you really have to try SPIDER (Bryce Manor) and SWORD OF FARGOAL! Killergames.
Rolando Tap Tap Revenge 3 Doode Jump ZENONIA or Inotia 2 Super Monkey Ball 2 Hook Champ Dark Nebula (free) Backbreaker Football Sway Rolando 2 Pocket God Labyrinth 2 NOVA
Only 20 to 30? I got more than that in a month! (Just Kidding. Sort of.) But here are some innovative classics: Touchgrind- critically acclaimed, fingerboard on your ipod! Labyrinth 2- Same maker as Touchgrind, just try it. Eliss- Award winner of innovative touch controls, really challenging one Boost 3d- Really immersive and futuristic highscore game with easy control and exciting gameplay. Zen Bound- An experience you can get only on this platform. A cool, wonderous and relaxing experience with great graphics and feel. Space Ninja- The coolest controls on the platform, getting acclaim for its simple but hard tilt maneuvering control system. Canabalt- Again, not an original. It was originally a flash game you can play on www.canabalt.com (I think) but it works super good on this. Spider: Secret of Bryce Manor- Probably my favorite- and the world's favorite- out of this list, maybe out of all games. The controls are amazing. The game goes by quick as it's so freakin' fun, but it's just a really neat game with different game modes and even a really mysterious and deep story. Enviro-Bear 2010- Nevermind, THIS is my favorite game. Even though whiny %$#!es complain about the controls, how else does a one-armed bear in an orange automobile drive? Ignore the bad reviews, this is the grand gem of ALL iphone games. Get this one first out of any of the previous. Other titles that i would love to explain and are just as good but I have to use the bathroom: Hook Champ Smashed! Blue Attack, Blue Defense Backbreaker Football Gloop, Germs, Orbit DoodleJump (well, duh.) And type 'innovative ipod touch games' into Google and you'll get, i dont know, a couple hundred more. Please reply to tell me what you think!
I've had my iPod for only a year and you should check my signature.. Well I guess mostly what the others have said. I think racing are pretty enjoyable to play. Hook champ doodle jump
Real Racing. Best racing game on iPod, i think. Choose between heaps of controls. Its A W E S O M E. Touchgrind, already mentioned, but oh well. Its a bit expensive.. ($5.99), but it really is the best skateboarding game for iPod. No ridiculous shaking, just touch, slide, ect. Go iTouchgrind!
...Ok. Yeah. I already posted 2 sets of innovative games. But i need to make another one. geoSpark Skee-Ball, NBA Hotshot Soosiz (even though it's a Mario Galaxy clone) Jet Car Stunts (why didn't i mention that earlier?) Pretty much all racing games. (NFS:Shift and Undercover, Real Racing, etc)
Pretty much any TD or real-time strategy game. For TD games, I'd recommend Sentinel 2, RTS, Red Conquest. Sway is great. Blimp is fantastic. Edge is equally fantastic, if not more (sadly, it's in a stupid battle with Langdell). Flight Control and/or most of it's spin-offs. Exorcist (cannot make this game on another platform). Durak (card game, killer interface). iBlast Moki Galcon I think Auditorium made it onto the iPod? Yeah, yeah, it did. Great game. Let's see, let's see, what else. Doodle Army Peggle, even though it's originally on PC, it's amazing. Snail Mail Real Racing Tiki Towers And the ever popular Spider. *These are the classics that've stayed on my iPod since I downloaded them.
Get Red Conquest, it's an RTS but the controls are built perfectly for the iPhone/iPod Touch. No trying to duplicate a mouse+keyboard or anything.
Sorry to blow my own horn, but I designed Charmed specifically for the iPhone. You could probably bojang it onto other platforms, but it was 100% intended for iPhone/iPod Touch.
I'm going to mention Pinch 'n Pop! ('cause no one else will). Designed for the iPhone, direct interaction with up to 5 fingers, yada yada. Not to knock Eliss (I like it too), but pinching to combine stuff wasn't exactly innovative or original 6 months after Pinch 'n Pop! came out
