    Hi. I'm a mobile game/app developer.

I'm thinking of naming my new development studio Badarse and wanted to know what gamers think of the name? e.i. Badarse Games, Badarse Apps etc.

I'm particularly interested in what American's think of it as I think it would work well in the UK. Just not sure if it works across the pond too?

Any feedback please would be very welcomed!

P.S. Yes, I'm aware the correct term is Badass LOL

I have the domain name (.com) in reserve but no website yet.

Was waiting until I was 100% sure that Americans would like it too before building the website.

I don't like it and I'm a Brit. I can see it being less of a problem in the US as I think it's a less offensive term over there. It's like when I hear tw*t in a US sitcom.

(I'm not saying both terms are equally offensive, just that both are more offensive in the US than the UK.)

Moved to General as this isn't a new game

I'm from the uk but think its a bad name. I'm not offended by it but it just seems a pretty juvenile name

OK that's interesting. I didn't realise it was offensive.

I suppose my intentions are for it to be light hearted and not too serious but I hear what you are saying.

I like the name Rockstar Games. I want to have something that expresses an edgy development team if you know what I mean.

    Thanks for the feedback.

Anyone else's thoughts before I make a final decision to think again?

    Worst name ever...

Not even close to "Rockstar games". Its a completely different thing.

When I hear the name "badass/badarse studios" I automatically assume that a bunch of douchebags work there and wouldn't even buy the app based on the development teams name.

Just my opinion though, I'm not trying to offend you or anything.

Ditto to this. Plus, the name is a bit generic IMO. There is already a group of devs that go by the name Rockstar.

Good feedback. Please keep it coming.

Do most people in the US know what an Arse is?

Does 'Badarse' even make sense to you guys?

Yes, I do. Arse is a different translation (British) of ass.

Aussie here, sounds unprofessional to me.
And would apple even allow it?
"Bad arse" is an extremely common phrase, so the fact that it isn't already a studio name sets off warning bells, for me anyway.
If I were you I'd come up with a play on words so it sounds kinda like bad arse, but it's not. Like I believe there's a game called "kick bass" fishing or something like that. Something like that is tongue in cheek, but still professional, where as going for the real thing just seems a little trashy.

American here and although I don't find it offensive at all I agree with the others that it just sounds juvenile and unprofessional.

Thanks for the feedback. Did the word make sense to you straight away? Lets say it was on a cool tee-shirt.. would an American where it (if they liked the tee design) or would they be put off by british slang?

I would be fine with the t-shirt. Personally, I would not be put off by it. And, I'm American. Proud to be.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm aiming for my studio to someday develop some brand loyalty from both the UK & the US so that's cool. Good to here.

Still interested in more opinions. Thanks all, this is really helping me out!
