"Smashed" is a 2.5d physics game where you get to solve physics puzzles by destroying things. We've just submitted it to the store, so I would appreciate some feedback on these pics and vids - we need to find out if we have delusions of adequacy or not. Lots more images at our gallery: http://picasaweb.google.com/hackdirt Gameplay Trailers, showing some actual smashing: [hqyoutube]yp9dSbFhNR8[/hqyoutube] [hqyoutube]RWWLVXcL8FY[/hqyoutube] Here's an older video of someone playing on a 2G iPod Touch: youtube link Game Details: 60+ Levels over 7 episodes. Interesting destructive tools to use. Play in both landscape and portrait modes. Awesomely fun level selection screens where you get to chuck levels around. 30 mins of originally composed dubstep and drum n bass music. Interesting storyline, featuring a demolition company, a crooked city council, a young journalist, a mysterious artist, corruption, and intrigue. Not sure what price we'll settle on yet. This looks very cool. I love destruction / block games. I used to use real blocks, but now I'm too old and the items in my house are too expensive to warrant throwing a tennis ball at block structures. Now I can get these games on my iPhone and nobody can catch me at it.
Looks really good! Text is very hard to read in some of the screenshots though. I take it you get to break things with a real physics engine and there's a storyline too? Now that's a well rounded game!
All done with your finger - tap to smash, tap to pan around levels, pinch to zoom, tap and drag blocks, etc.
I love the way this looks so far, I have yet to buy a block destroying game because they all seem so mediocre, but this one takes the cake. I would've liked it more if the characters seem more animated and less real. But that's probably just me.
We actually tried it with cartoon/anime characters originally, but they didn't quite suit the grittier environments. I'll try and dig up a screenshot. The characters in the screenshots above are all digitally painted by hand - here's a full-size example.
Wait, you initially had anime characters? I would love to see that. I'm a big fan of that type of art style as opposed to anything else even though I don't watch anime, I just like the style of art.
Here's a pic of one of the anime guys: http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/9CS1aQWVDssSIhUEwRl8XA?feat=directlink
Oh, I see what you mean with your cartoonish characters not working with the rest of the scene. However, I was thinking of characters that looked more along the lines of this: If you had character styles like this game, I think it would have definitely worked. Regardless, I look forward to your game.
rabbit hole of death....that normally might sounds fine but with that anime chick you may take it differently
Alice's "rabbit hole of death"? Brilliant I actually prefer this kind of style myself too. Because I'm doing all the artwork myself so I have to stick with what I'm good at, and I'm pretty terrible at anime.
Hey it still looks good to me, heck I thought they were real people. You have some talent for art there man.
