XLR8 (pronounced accelerate) is an exciting new app from 2XL Games that makes your car sound like an exotic supercar as you drive! Connect your iPhone, iPod or iPad to your car stereo and you are off and running. Once secured inside your vehicle, XLR8 uses the accelerometers of your device to realistically respond to acceleration, braking and cornering forces. Select from one of five exciting engines: - Classic V8 muscle car - NASCAR engine - Ford GT40 - Ferrari sports car - Lamborghini Supercar Dazzle your friends when you roll into the parking lot with the sound of a lumbering muscle car. Each engine realistically delivers the thrill of driving a different type of supercar. Uses Hollywood quality recordings of the real engines to sound totally authentic. Tune the performance of your engines by adjusting the shift point and gear ratios. Sound like you are burning out your tires and drifting without driving recklessly. Supports both cabled and wireless Bluetooth audio connections to your car stereo. Some vehicle Bluetooth connections can experience a slight delay. Automatic Mode measures the acceleration of your car and Manual Mode lets you control the engine by hand. XLR8 works well with any device, but works best with a GPS. I had considered paying for it but good thing I didn't. I'll have to buy other car sounds but it'll be nice to try it out for free. Thanks for the post OP! Frickin' sunshine, aren't you? Seriously, try and go a day without being rude, dismissive or otherwise jerky. You might like it. And generally, it's nice if you actually download and try something before rating it. It's a silly, fun app that does a decent job at making it sound a bit more fun when loading up a mini van with the kids. While I doubt I'll pull it out often, for free (or a dollar) it's a fine way to just fool around. It's at least leagues better than the infinite fart apps. Absolutely no problems with this. Quote from the tA chief editor's (Eli Hodapp) review: This review is present in the OP (first in thread) since over a year. So no bad surprises—unlike tons of other apps trying to hide those IAPs as much as they can. But once more for all of those still surprised users before they get too upset: There is only one sounding engine (V8) included—IAPs are for additional content. Is it all clear now? Got it? I hope so. But don't hesitate to ask if there are still problems. I'll be glad to give answers as good as I can. Honestly! I'm sooo sorry that you don't like it, Mr. Frickin' Sunshine (©℗ by tA user andsoitgoes)! It's a very good & appropriate behavior that you down-voted the app and the thread without probably even downloading and trying; what a precious and exemplary touchArcade forum user! But listen: The very interesting technique (sound generation/triggering by sensors) seems to become more and more modern (not only in the Theremin synth or here in XLR8): Google/YouTube for Fisker Karma Sound. An electric car that uses outboard loudspeakers to simulate an artificial (and pretty spacy/spooky) engine sound (for safety)! Thx to dev for the freebie! And if there wouldn't have been more than one motor type sound at the first place nobody would have complained. I personally didn't miss anything without the IAPs. Played with it for a while (you have to secure/fasten the device in the car and keep an eye on the extensive settings) and the delivered motor/tires sound convinced me that it works. Technically interesting. Maybe it's even enough if you watch the demo video esp when you have no car. (I tried it even in trains but it works only in the metro.) I didn't test any IAPs in this game… uhm, entertainment app. Thanks for the information. Actually I couldn't find any "restore IAPs" button. They should really add that. Other than that the IAPs are clearly described. A straight additional content. The only type of IAPs that are okay for me—and everybody who ever read some postings by me knows that I am very delicate when it comes to IAPs. It's not MY app, I'm just passing the info that it's on sale as always. You said that already. We all believe you and the fact that it's your opinion. (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
