Hello, I'm looking for the best (whatever that means!), overhead vertical scrolling shooter for the iPad. Just to clarify: I'm thinking of 1942 as a perfect example. I'd like something visually appealing and with variable difficulty settings. I'm not the gamer I once was, and would like to just have fun playing. I've seen some great shooters from "Cube," but unless I'm mistaken they are iPhone only. I'd really like to find something along those lines but developed for the iPad. Thanks in advance!!!!
Yep, "Cave.". Let that serve as a lesson to all you kids out there: never post in the forum after taking a muscle relaxant for severe low back pain! ;-) So, any suggestions for games? I just saw a game, "Cosmic Birds HD," it looks promising?
I had great fun with Cosmic Birds on the iPhone once they'd sorted the crash issues. I'm not strictly a SHMUP kinda guy though so I couldn't go into details on the pros and cons compared to the competition. I just know it looked beautiful and it was kinda tough, but the upgrading meant I got further each time I played which was cool.
I'd suggest checking out these overhead 2D shooters for the iPad: - AirAttack HD - iStriker: Rescue & Combat - Rosewell Fighter - Ultrablast - Icarus-X - Shmup - Pac Sam
Another good one similar to this (which I was trying to remember last night but couldn't) is SkySmash 1918. AirAttack HD is a better game, but if you want more try SkySmash 1918 too.
Until Cave ports their games to iPad, I don't think there's any shmup better than Space Invaders Infinity Gene. Superb.
