Do I have to buy book 1 to understand book 2?

No, generally unrelated except for occurring in the same word.

How is Book 2 story wise - compared to the other ones?

If you must ask, I think it is my least favorite. I love the series to death, but I would rank 4 the best, then 1,3,5,6, and 7 as a pretty good toss up for being pretty in the middle of the pack, and then 2 being a notch below all of them. That's just my opinion though and I am sure it doesn't apply to everyone.

That isn't to say that you shouldn't buy it for a buck, but I thought the story and characterization was severely lacking. Also, I felt like this book had more insta-deaths and it was just harder to decide where to go since every door and corridor looks exactly like every other one, but perhaps dungeon crawling is more of your taste.

I think you could do better with the rest of the installments. As much as I like Gamebook Adventures, I found almost no motivation for replaying this one multiple times like I did with the rest of the series.

    ^ thanks for the breakdown.

Gamebook Adventures 4 dropped to $0.99 as well so I'm going to pick it up.

Yeah, I saw that GA4 is on sale. What a coincidence! Maybe TheTinMan saw my comment about it.

I would definitely give my approval for that one. Some people don't like the art style for that one, but I was actually a fan of it. I think the storytelling for #4 is the best. Something about the story in that one that just really tickled my fancy. I would try to get the whole series if possible thought since they all bring something good to the table.

Was the sale 1 day only? I see it as full price :(
