To all ios customers, we recieve the new album made by U2 as announced at the apple keynote event. Just go to your purchased on itunes and you will already have it. This is a note to some who havent known yet
Very cool giveaway, thanks for the heads up. It took a minute to show up as purchased, and I had to search for it before it showed up, but it worked.
Apparently by doing this it becomes by far the quickest distributed album of all time. All of the over half billion iTunes users got it in their library. It's actually pretty good too.
I heard about it, wasn't sure how to get it. It's cool that Apple & U2 are doing this. Happy I have something new to listen to tonight
Still hasn't shown in my music app. I wonder if this is dependent on ios7 to get I to show? It does show as purchased. Guess ill get it later or will use iTunes on my PC.
Yeah it didn't show up on my iPod Touch 4g w/iOS 6 either. Showed up right away on iTunes on my Mac tho.
I just found it cheesey as anything, Bono who used to be anti-large corporates etc selling his soul to the devil so to speak. That embarassing badly rehearsed 'so how can we get our new album out there ?' speech was cringeworthy. After average sales of their last album they had to try something new.
I have never agreed with psj more than the above. Quite possibly the most un-rock and roll thing I have ever seen. I don't know who's worse, Bono himself, or the other three for not stepping in and stopping him.
I was looking at the other band members who look embarassed as anything, specially the drummer, had a look of 'yeah yeah we've sold out totally i know i know....' on his face. When Tim Cook was saying to the crowd 'wasnt that the best song ever ?' i cringed badly ! U2 have done MANY great songs (not their last album or that song last night) so to say that was ridiculous. Bono's bleating on to me about giving money to starving kids etc yet hes pocketing 1.2 billion due to facebook shares or selling out to Apple. Oh 1980's/1990's Bono please come back !
I never really liked U2 then either, but alot of my pals did. When I was a boy and Ian Brown said that the whole reason for the Stone Roses was to rid the world of bands like U2 I knew I wasn't alone in my thinking. I do wish the final track was hidden behind a giant IAP paywall once downloaded.
Bono still does a ton of beautiful work for some needed causes. Never ever liked U2 tho. Especially this later stuff. Seems as if they just toss stuff out. Guaranteed we wouldn't even know U2 if their beginning music was like any of their later stuff. Don't mean to be disrespectful to U2 fans at all.
