Google Chrome and Drive now free!

Discussion in 'Price Drops, Must-Have Freebies, and Deals' started by Connector, Jun 28, 2012.

  1. Google's long awaited web browser Chrome is now here. Also Google's cloud service Drive is here too.

Been playing around with Google Chrome today, it is kind of cool to have an alternative to Safari, but while searching is easier and the interface looks more like a pc browser, can't say it is that much better than Safari, but maybe some of you can post what is better about it.

Searching does seem a lot easier, and bookmarks are done in a folder view. Don't know which I would say looks better, but worth downloading nonetheless.

Can someone link both programs for me! Thanks!

I like the look of Chrome better but as a jailbreaker you can make Safari look a lot like Chrome as it was.

So does Chrome use it's own engine like Opra for iPad does?

Yeah I researched Chrome for ios. Apperantly it just runs under Safari like other browsers, also unlike Safari though it uses an older nitro and java engine...basically you get a slightly slower skinned up Safari. Really sucks, was hoping Google would use their fast browser engine.

No matter how much people might argue about Android vs iOS. Google I/O 2012 announcements have been amazing till now! Thank you for Chrome :)

I was gonna say the same thing. Google have done almost nothing at all to make this a fast and slimlined browser. It's not like they tried and failed, they've knowingly used old tech due to what I can only guess is laziness, hoping brand recognition would win them a few downloads. This is not a particularly good browser.

Since someone mentioned Flash, I'll just point out: Adobe just announced they're dropping Android support on all of their updates from now on. It looks like it really is dying this time, so iOS owners don't have to feel left out for long.
