I know that's a selling point for some people but honestly I don't want to dedicate that amount of time to any game unless it's a port of Shenmue 1 & 2. Exact-Psience Well-Known Member Jan 12, 2012 22,664 2 38 The Work-At-Home Guy Philippines #17 Exact-Psience, Apr 12, 2013 For those not too sure about this, here's a few words for you. The graphics is in glorious pixel art, very similar to the style used in FF1. Simple, yet charming and visually attractive. Although some may just see it as simply aged, or too simple. Despite having only the simplest in graphics and sounds, this game does shine in one thing... Gameplay. The game design is just brilliant, demanding memory, reflexes, dexterity, presence of mind, and a whole lot of patience from you. The controls are spot on, despite having no customizations, and they work well in helping you get through the most brutal sequences you have ever seen in multiple games. The stages are also very varied. They can be any of the following: 1. Platformer - standard directional buttons and jump button 2. Labyrinthine - tilt to control your character carefully to get to the exit 3. Horizontal runner - one-tap touch control for jumping, with an important but subtle "acceleration" effect. some jumps are gonna be impossible without figuring this out, but that is part of the fun that also adds to your deaths. 4. Vertical runner - tilt side-to-side to avoid obstacles, and get to the exit Each one of these stages are BRUTAL. I finished the game, but havent completed ALL stages yet. One thing that counters the challenge this game provides is that you dont have to complete everything to progress. On each area is a gate that takes you to the next areas, and in each area are sets of stages to play to unlock the gates. You only need to complete about half the stages in each area to get access to next areas. Despite the brutality of the game's difficulty, the game boasts some of the most well-thought out obstacles for platformers, labyrinths, and runner sequences. They are so well a challenge, but they are definitely doable. This game is a perfect example of simple aesthetics, combined with brilliant game design, and only a few titles come to mind that accomplishes this. One i can think of now, is Polara. Finished the game before, but I lost my savefile with my ipod touch 4, but am now rocking the game again on the ipad mini. I remember having over a thousand deaths when i finished it. The feeling of victory never felt sweeter after beating this game, and i still had to complete the stages i havent completed yet. Some more good points: 1. ZERO IAPs 2. NO ADS 3. Eats less than 7mb off your idevice's drive space For a buck, this gem is a steal. nightc1 Well-Known Member Oct 19, 2012 4,362 0 0 AL #18 nightc1, Apr 12, 2013 Massive post dude. Much appreciated. What about how much time you need to play this game. I don't think 74 hours or whatever of gameplay is something I'm super interested in. Senile Felines Active Member Mar 6, 2013 36 0 0 #20 Senile Felines, Apr 12, 2013 The levels are each seldom longer than a minute end-to-end, but "774 Deaths" is true to the title; I've died 359 times and I'm only on the room containing levels 15-18. This game is BRUTALLY difficult, and that's the draw: if you're the type of person who would actually put 1,001 attempts into 1,001 Attempts, or reach Hyper Hexagonest, then you actually COULD get 74 hours worth of legitimate gameplay out of 774 Deaths (albeit in much smaller chunks).
