Exactly this, though I don't mind an onscreen wheel with brake/accelerate buttons. If its touch, then give us two brake buttons on each side of the screen to touch or just touch the middle quadrant.
Brake on each side of the screen and auto accelerate. That way you can easily brake no matter in which direction you steer.
I love tilt even with a heavy new ipad, but I prefer tilt by far, I just imagine my ipad is a steering wheel, and I play on my tv hdmi. But some games have poor tilt implementation, and those buttons are better especially for high scores. But in most cases like Asphalt, nfs, repulze, etc, like tilt.
Partly depending on the type of racing game. From the behind the car perspective, I prefer tilt. For top down/isometric view, an analog dpad/steering wheel (a la Death Rally or Mini Motor Racing). But since everyone's different, put in as many options as possible.
Left/Right side of screen buttons. D-pad. Wheel. Anything but tilt for me. As already suggested, the best option is to put in as many options as possible and let people choose. Take a look at the NFS: MW thread in upcoming games to see how passionate people get about their preferred method being included. Those that like tilt won't buy a game if it's not an option. People that prefer some kind of on screen steering won't buy a game if it's not an option. Even with a major title like NFS.
Cant believe tilt is leading ! Ideally though it would be great if you could add a few control schemes. I prefer a d-pad or arrows at the side than tilting but it seems from the poll i'm in the minority
Casual gamers... A good controls scheme is also a steering wheel, a gas and a brake pedal on the bottom, gear switch in the middle and a bear paw that controls it all. Haha
Tilting is leading ? Really ? I would have gone with something more like.. Press on the right side of the screen.. it goes right... Press the left side.. it goes left... I can't remember on which game i've seen this control scheme.. But I liked it!
