It's a real shame this game is getting zero attention because it deserves a lot better. The graphics are excellent with well drawn environments and characters. Everything is colorful in an Oceanhorn type of style although perhaps with a little less detail. The game is Zelda-ish in gameplay style, although battles are turn-based. The game has outstanding, responsive, simple swipe-based controls. You start the game as a sorcerer's apprentice type of character. Your master gives you a quest and off you go. Quests are either fetch and return affairs or combat-based tasks. Combat takes place in a turn-based arena. You attack, heal and use spells with a variety of screen swipes. The controls work perfectly. You move with a virtual stick. Although you begin with one attack, you gain many more as you progress. I am up to five already with only an hour of play. All attacks are spell-based thus far. You can block opponent's attacks with a swipe. The environments are maze-like so this is not an open world game. You meet people, get quests, wander around completing your tasks and powering up. There are towns with equipment and people to meet. Graphically, the game is bright and colorful with a vibrant, cheery art style. One nice touch is your character changes appearance each time you change classes to something more powerful. The story is nothing special. Find this. Do that. Kill foozle. The usual stuff, but the game's charm makes it more than tolerable. As for negatives, there are some invisible walls and places you can't access without completing a quest or reaching a higher level. Equipment shops are kind of empty of items other than one item that ends up being exactly what you need. The gameplay is somewhat repetitive. Go on a quest, get into a few fights, go questing again, rinse, repeat. I am being pretty nit-picky here because none of these common action-RPG tropes have diminished the game's charm for me with an hour of playtime under my belt. The only real criticism I have is that the dialogue spoken by non-essential NPCs in the overworld is REALLY tiny. You don't need to read it, but it's there to add atmosphere and should be readable. Charming is the best word to describe this game. I bought this on the app store when it dropped to $3. This game is worth every penny. I think it is worth the $5 the developer was originally charging. At $3, it's a bargain. Even if it stopped working right now, I would feel like I got my $3 worth of fun out of it. With an hour of playtime, I would give it. 4 out of 5. I played on a first generation iPad Air. The game ran beautifully with no crashes and only one minor graphical stutter during my hour of play. I plan to play this to the end and may post more impressions if I have the time. Bought, based on your positive impressions. Thanks, you two! First impression: Charming. Something I can show to my kid, I think. The character reminds me a lot of the Black Mages from Final Fantasy 9. And yes, the text is way too tiny. And no, iOS text resizing is not supported. cadillackills Well-Known Member Jul 12, 2015 148 0 0 #7 cadillackills, Aug 29, 2015 I'll come back, I think yor game looks great, I only had 5, and it went to galActic keep.
