    Hello folks
You might remember Arcana Agency: Prologue, the first gamebook on iPhone ever released in 2009.
Well, we have spent one year writing and illustrating the sequel, it's going to be called Arcana Agency: The Thief of Memories and it's this time written by an award-winning author, Paul Gresty.
We decided to release it first in print as a full colour hardback gamebook.
For this purpose we have just opened a Kickstarter where you can also have promo codes to test our other iOS gamebooks.
If we meet our target for the print Kickstarter, then we'll have enough cash to release the app as well on iPhone and iPad in early 2013.
So until then, please have a look at our Kickstarter, share the link if you enjoyed the Prologue app, or even better if you can, help us and pledge!:

    Many thanks!

Hello, all. I'm Richard S. Hetley, one of the people working with Mikaƫl there. I'm checking up on places where we think people would be interested in the gamebook, and I wanted to add my voice to the "Take a look! It's really awesome!" chorus.

We have the same artists that we've had for our iOS apps, so it all looks spectacular:

The text is also quality, as our writer Paul Gresty took full advantage of the print medium. There are all those little stunts you can only manage in a book, like "Go to the page number that matches the combination on this lock," to make the game more a challenge on the player than a "Darn, wrong route, I'll just cheat and take the other one" fest.

Also, the book is written in third person, not second person, which is apparently a "selling point." I don't know, I'm told some readers don't like second person. All I know is you get to control multiple investigators at once (from your external perspective), which is pretty cool: it's like you have an adventuring party in print book form.

We really think that it's fun and challenging, and we hope that you'll take a moment to look at the Kickstarter and think about pledging. If this project succeeds, we'll be able to do yet more exciting things in the future.

Thanks for lending me your ear!

Also, you can check our kickstarter rewards for the Arcana sequel:

    http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/...a-full-color-g

You'll see we are gifting promo codes for our other iOS apps for people pledging at least 15 USD to the print version of the Arcana Agency sequel.

And if we reach our 20k target, we guarantee we'll release the Arcana sequel iOS app a short while after the print version!

    Thanks for your help!

Hello! Here's a small update with a big bit of news:

This is a free "demo" of our gamebook. It's a prequel, really, and is completely self-contained. Download it, play it, admire the art, and spread it across the internet. If you want to see more, you can link up your play with The Thief of Memories if and when the latter is published. I've also updated my earlier post, above, with more images from the game, so take a quick look; I think you'll like what you see.

And if you do, then please consider pledging! Even if you can't, please show our mini-gamebook "demo" to people you know.

We really hope we can succeed in expanding on our iOS game and bring Arcana Agency: The Thief of Memories into the world. Thanks for reading!

  6. By the time you read this, Arcana Agency: The Thief of Memories will be almost two weeks from its deadline, and approaching 50% of our goal! Response so far has been terrific.

Most recently, we got a little nod from Ryan North, author of Dinosaur Comics and Adventure Time comics, during his Kickstarter run with To Be Or Not To Be: That Is The Adventure.

We've partnered with fellow gamebook Maelorum (successfully funded) and Turn to 400 - The Fighting Fantasy documentary film (in its last hours).

Gamebook authors Dave Morris, Stuart Lloyd, Jonathan Green, and Herbie Brennan have all weighed in on our project.

We got a review on a new site called Table Tested. And though we think the book stands on its own merits, the Campaign Master blog even reviewed the project as a gaming aide for roleplaying in general.

We still have a ways to go, and for that we need your help. If you like the pretty graphics I've posted, and think a literate bit of gaming might be your thing, then please take a look at Arcana Agency:

    . . . And/or try out our fully-playable game sample:

. . . And/or tell your gaming friends. Thanks once more for listening!

Good day, everyone. Arcana Agency: The Thief of Memories has surpassed 50% (and is now at 60%) with one week left in our project. We've seen backers coming from all over who are interested in the sort of classic gaming experience that RPG gamebooks represent, electronic or printed. If a solo adventure you can hold in your hands sounds good to you, or you just want a download with pictures you can swipe for free (download link and alternative), then please take a look now:

    http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1615043334/arcana-agency-the-thief-of-memories-a-full-color-g

We're almost done, and we're hoping to have a few more nice surprises before we get there, so please come on by. Thank you for reading!

    Once more, with feeling!

Arcana Agency: The Thief of Memories is now in our last full day of funding on Kickstarter: 12/12/12. The end comes tomorrow, and we need your help now in order to reach our goal!

Funding has jumped from 60% to over 85% in just a week. We've been reviewed by VideoGameGeek (thanks to our iOS connection) and Brewin', and we've partnered with gamebook author Jonathan Green's "history book" of the Fighting Fantasy series, YOU ARE THE HERO. But we're not funded yet.

If you haven't taken a look at our project and/or our free demo, please do:

    http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1615043334/arcana-agency-the-thief-of-memories-a-full-color-g

And if you don't know you want to pledge, but you know other people who might, then please pass the link on to them. There are only so many gamebooks/solo adventures like this being published today, and we really want to help this type of gaming experience thrive. Thanks for reading, and thanks for your support!

Arcana Agency: The Thief of Memories is FUNDED with one or two hours left! Thanks to all of you for looking into our project, and thanks especially if you backed us. We can't wait to get this book finalized, printed, and shipped out to the gaming public. We think you'll enjoy it!

If you haven't backed it and weren't sure whether it were worth a pledge, there's just a little time (as of this post) for you to take another look. It's a sure thing that this book will exist now, so it's just a question of whether you want to pre-order. If you do, and if we reach our first stretch goal (less than $1000 away now!), then we can add even more to the book: we'll be able to turn that free demo into an extra "case 0" in the print book itself! The link:

    http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1615043334/arcana-agency-the-thief-of-memories-a-full-color-g

This will be the last time we post "for promo," so if you read it after our deadline, let me just say "thank you" one final time. We couldn't have made it without you!
