Each player is a police officer with a different specialty that affects what actions they excel at. There is also a mechanic that allows one player to be a "dirty cop" and work against the other cops by lying and hiding evidence. If found out, the dirty cop is exposed and is less effective, but can still stay in the game and do alternate actions. I'm very impressed that the app only requires iOS 6. Haven't given it a shot yet, but I'm looking forward to trying it out. My wife and I love co-op board games. The price of this app is $8.99, in case it is displaying improperly. mrmatis08 Member Mar 29, 2012 15 0 0 #2 mrmatis08, Jul 7, 2016 Interesting Game So, it says it's $2.99 here in TA, but then it's $8.99 in the App Store. I know the price is probably not in the category to give a try simply out of curiousness. ttcool Well-Known Member Jul 2, 2016 92 0 0 #6 ttcool, Jul 13, 2016 After few searches, ran into Tom Vasel review of the board game which he highly recommended, so I took the plung! My initial impressions: Cons: - no real tutorial, just static pages explaining the rules and the game with link to pdf and vid link to Vasel - no AI - only pass/play mode or online Pros: - polished graphics as u pan around the map - UI seems clean and quick - even without AI, one can play as solo game to control all the cops I will update more as I play and read the rules uh.... Hate reading all the rules... hedgey Well-Known Member Apr 20, 2012 99 6 8 #7 hedgey, Jul 14, 2016 Thanks for the impressions ttcool. currymutton Well-Known Member Oct 16, 2008 4,430 1 0 #8 currymutton, Jul 14, 2016 Last edited: Jul 14, 2016 No tutorial? Arrgh! Money hold back. May be I should wait for Dungoneering next week. BTW, I read from BGG this game is Kickstarted not long ago and that US$2.99 is intended for the backers (due to a current backer reward fiasco) and it raises back to "normal" price when the backers have got their rewards. Edit: hang on! The app description says there is online mulitplayer though. If you, like me, watch Tom Vasel's review of the physical board game and then attempt a game and read through the resulting tutorial message, you'll likely be 80% up to speed with the game's in-game manual filling in your final gaps. So while this one is pretty pricey, it's a lot easier to follow. Pass and Play is identical to playing Pathfinder Adventure, Elder Signs, or Forbidden Desert in that while the game has multiple characters, all of those characters can easily all be controlled by 1 human player. ttcool Well-Known Member Jul 2, 2016 92 0 0 #15 ttcool, Jul 14, 2016 The solo play is just the player controlling all the police. After playing the pass and play by myself, it feels like I'm controlling the whole precinct sending police and investigator to the crime scene. Pretty neat... Have played 4 games and haven not won yet, but still fun to play. ttcool Well-Known Member Jul 2, 2016 92 0 0 #16 ttcool, Jul 14, 2016 I love board game and almost bought Maquis. I really don't want to pick up another game like XenoShift that is completely unwinnable. Is this like that? (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
