Hey guys, got another question for you. Why is it that my 1st gen Itouch is taking forever to backup? It's currently running OS 3.0. And I've jailbroken it before back when it was 1.1.1.
i am in the same situation as you, but instead of my iTouch being slow, its really fast, i got 2 gigs of video on and a hell of a lot of saves backed up, in under 10 minutes! It was much slower in 2.whatever
First time I upgraded to 3.0 on my iPhone 3G it took a whopping 5 and half hours! Only had 6GB of data on the phone, I was tearing my hair out! Now it takes no more than a few minutes...
Don't do what I did. I got impatient, ran a restore and all of my save games got deleted. At least it backed up quickly afterwards.
haha that must've sucked, well anyway I'm gonna try backing up again (finished it earlier today GMT+8 time) and see if it got any faster.
If you keeping backing up daily it takes appx 5-10 minutes. Dont back it uop for 2 weeks and it`ll easily take a couple of hours. Maybe more. I make it a point to back up mine every day. This way I m also insured that I wont loose any of my game data if for some reason the iPhone needs to be restored.
Prior to 3.0, I backed up almost daily, so when this took hours, I was livid! But I agree with you, great advice to back up daily
My 1st gen touch takes forever, 5+ hours. But I find my 2g touch is considerably faster syncing, usually 25 min, up to an hour.
My first time backing up took me hours, like 4-6 hours. After that, now it only takes like 15 minutes to back up.
I deleted my backup on accident and I had to make a fresh new one. It took about 2 and a half hours to fully backup.
Leave it to be backed up over night. That way you wont be staring at the iTunes progress bar for 4 hours and you wont be tempted to stop the process halfway thinking itunes has hanged(like u did the last time). Also in case you have set up an alarm with the iPod clock, it`ll be a good idea to tun it off for tonight. A few months ago I left my iPhone to sync n backup at 4 in the morning. But I forgot to switch off the 6AM alarm. It went off when the backup was 70% done and there was no option to shut it off. I had to cancel the backup if I wanted to turn off the alarm. The damn thing kept going off every 5 minutes for next 20 minutes. Had to stuff the iPhone below some pillows so that I could sleep.
