I watched a video of it, and my only concern is the combat controls - it seems like there's some possibility for misinterpretation of strokes/commands. Is that true? Or does it work well? Also, how is the story? undeadcow Well-Known Member Dec 4, 2010 9,493 2 36 Houston, TX #3 undeadcow, Jul 21, 2011 Regarding controls they generally operate well but sometimes the flick function is tricky. I haven't experienced a lot of misinterpretation just that sometimes it's difficult to swipe from your character with the control the game seems to demand. Still an enjoyable game. Story is fairly generic. Artfoundry Well-Known Member May 11, 2009 2,519 2 38 COO and Creative Director at LCD Dreams, Inc. Bay area, CA #4 Artfoundry, Jul 21, 2011 So why is it a must own? Heh, "enjoyable" and "fairly generic" don't really inspire an overwhelming desire to own. thefalcon Member Oct 15, 2009 11 0 0 #5 thefalcon, Jul 22, 2011 Gameplay actually reminds me of Battleheart It's like a 16-bit pixel version of it Fairly enjoyable.... wouldn't pay 4.99 for it... but 99c is a go. undeadcow Well-Known Member Dec 4, 2010 9,493 2 36 Houston, TX #6 undeadcow, Jul 22, 2011 Last edited: Jul 23, 2011 It's not a story driven game. It plays a lot like a micro real time strategy game with some puzzle twists. I really enjoyed the mechanics and challenge. Although not as polished as Battleheart which others have compared it too KotPC has more detailed level design and strategy with an often slower pace. Easily worth a dollar. I´m in! dnk Well-Known Member Apr 15, 2010 768 1 18 #8 dnk, Jul 23, 2011 The gameplay is great, the battle mechanic is quite complex and the game itself is super super super hard. It's definitely a hardcore game unlike Legendary Wars or Battleheart, which I think is more casual oriented. The story is fairly generic, but if I set my standard high enough, there's rarely any original game with good story in the Appstore. And let's not start with Gameloft or Gamevil. This shouldn't restrain anyone from buying it. The controls are the only weak point of this game. It's not as perfect as I hope it to be. backtothis im in ur base killin ur d00dz Staff Member Patreon Silver Patreon Gold Patreon Bronze Jul 13, 2009 13,250 1 0 college student (junior) Houston/Austin, TX https://twitter.com/back2this #9 backtothis, Jul 23, 2011 Took a while to get into. I actually deleted it after trying it out for a while many months ago, and only resynced it on undeadcow's recommendation just a while back. If you're into battles with tons of unit micromanagement in the vein of RTS games but on a smaller scale, this ones a great choice. The battles do indeed get pretty interesting, but like I said, it might take a while for it to grow on you. Also, it might not be too kind to beginners, but keep trying if you get stuck. Once you get the controls down, it should be pretty fun. Agas Well-Known Member Jan 28, 2011 2,347 0 0 #10 Agas, Dec 21, 2011 Back to 99c. I watched a video of a guy and like half the film was him flipping through tons of mEnus. The actual gameplay looked pretty good though, u move ur charters with touchscreen actions, I guess just a line to move or attack then I guess some other manuever to attack from a distance. It looks like I set up most of the stuff bEfore, and then play. I think it's probly too long and boring for casuals u have to like really get I to it.... Looks fun though still I'm not sure exactly how it plays or if it's worth putting all the time into it etc.... Just considering it cuz it's only 99c noW. Anyone play this? undeadcow Well-Known Member Dec 4, 2010 9,493 2 36 Houston, TX #12 undeadcow, Dec 23, 2011 Last edited: Dec 23, 2011 In some ways it's similar to Battleheart but the controls are a bit clunkier/complicated (flicking to attack with special moves is often awkward, hold character and double tap for other special abilities). It feels like a mini real time strategy game with 3 unit party). The video you saw had a lot of menus because fhere is a good amount of character squad customization between levels. There are boss battles. The levels are more complicated often feeling like puzzles and it is not a forgiving game. I love this game and it's one of my all time favorites but so far I've failed to convence many of it's superiority. To me it's a great value at $0.99 but requires some dedication and if you're on a budget you might read more reviews. This video shows some of the action and gives an impression of controls...
