what program to use for sound effects and music?

  1. what program do you or other people use to create sound effects and music for your/their games? i'm new so i'm not sure where to begin. any name of a commonly used program would be useful.

    On my PC I use:

    Reason
    Cubase
    Various harware and VST synths.
    Samples

    On iOS I use:

    NanoStudio
    Beatmaker2 (occasionally)
    iShred
    iVoxel
    MIDI Synth
    Filtatron

    I have been using FL Studio for years on my PC / Parallels. Great for making short loops of music and editing sound fx or recording your own plus you can download more VST's for more effects or instruments.

    Don't forget the software you already have like Garage Band...it can do some nice things as well. :)

    Also I use Audacity if I need to modify and existing sound's properties and such

    I was creating all my audio in GarageBand, then editing it in Audacity. I have since added iPad app studio.HD to my tools for creating the music.

    I use Sfxr as well, damn awesome app!

    For detailed editing I used Sound Studio (for OSX).
