Don't know how yet nor have the interest at the moment to learn how to post a clickable iTunes link, so just search for it. Appshopper isn't always completely up to date, I rely on another sales app just in case. Oh yeah, it's by the same folks who made (or published the Bug Heroes games, which IMO are awesome.

But maybe the full version of Sky Gnomes will go free tomorrow for us, who knows. Kind of sad though, I bought this game when it first came out about a month and a half ago. Nowadays, it seems like many developers kind of screw it to early adopters by either charging a high price and going down fast, or by selling it and going free in a month or two after they don't get enough sales. I really like the companies like cave or chillingo that give us fanatical early adopters an earlybird sale, we are afterall the first ones to post good reviews and sales. But anyway off with the tirade. If indeed Sky Gnomes will be free tomorrow, pick it up. It is a good motion game like Aaaaaa force mass acceleration, supersonic, or boost. Not as good as those games, but good nonetheless. Missing tilt controls though for some reason, dont like the weird pilot stick joystick, wish they could add tilt control or a regular joypad to the controls. That would make the game really rock. andsoitgoes Well-Known Member Jun 30, 2010 2,673 58 48 In a van, down by the river! #5 andsoitgoes, Jun 2, 2012 Doh. And those people tend to be fans who should have no problem supporting developers whose games they enjoy emough to anticipate and buy at release. If you want it day one, then pay up. If you don't care enough to get it right away, wait for a sale. It's the nature of the AppStore. Also, this game hasn't "gone free" it's a freeappaday promotion. They released a free to play version, but this is a paid game on sale %100 off (though it has IAP as it always has). Is ok for a company like Cave or Chillingo to have early adopter sales, but not so for Indie developers? If so why? Anyway, it's no biggie about them going free after such a short time especially since this was a one dollar game to begin with, but nowadays, it's just coming to the point that it is just better off to wait 3 months or less to get the most discounted price or catch it free. I dunno, I just like early adopter sales as a consumer, but I can see how many developers would like to charge premium prices on day one to maximize their profits because they know that these same early adopters will pay premium prices for their games. And for that reason, I do respect companies like Chillingo and Cave for their policy on early adopter sales. Because of that, I buy almost all of their games, and give them high reviews as well. Did you restart your device? There were some huge memory fixes in the latest update, so everything should work great now. Just tested on my iPhone 4... As for sales and going free and all that... the reality is no one WANTS to go free. For us, we usually like to set a minimum amount of time after launch before messing with the price, but an opportunity came up with FAAD, and we took it. Why? Because exposure is the only road to anywhere in the App Store... and as you guys probably know, exposure is very hard to come by if you're a small developer. Unfortunately now a days, going free is one of the only tools a dev has to get eyes on their game, thanks to the way the App Store has evolved (both consumers and developers are to "blame"). These days, almost everything goes free sooner or later, from MotoHeroez (published by a big company like UbiSoft), to Swordigo (successful paid game by an indie dev), to hundreds of other games each week. Anyway... give the game a shot if you haven't already and let us know what you think! To those who already purchased the game earlier, we really do appreciate it!! Personally, we think the game is worth $.99 so hopefully those who did buy it feel the same way, regardless of this or any future sale GeekyDad Well-Known Member Jan 14, 2012 1,173 0 0 Games Journalist #15 GeekyDad, Jun 3, 2012 I'm never bothered when I pay for a game and see it later either go on sale or go free. What pisses me off in a very serious way is when I pay for a game and then the publishers either put the game on sale or make it free with changes that screw the folks who paid for the game, i.e. balance tweaks that equal an IAP wall, or lock things that were previously unlocked with the version you paid for. It is great to hear from a developer himself about the process, and need for exposure for their game. You know, I never cared too much about being an early adopter and buying a game, and finding out later it drops or goes free, since it's bound to happen sooner or later. Only with this program, it went free so fast after launch, that is all. We are lucky as consumers to get free apps, and recently, I've gotten high quality games like cut the rope experiments hd, swordigo, and motoheroz hd. So for every case of an app going down in price or free, I've been also able to pick up free apps, so I am thankful. It helps being an advanced user and having access to great boards like this or FMA. Many times before, I would have to look on Apples charts to see what was free, and a lot of times by the time that happened, they wouldnt be free any longer. Anyway, your app is a very high quality app and well deserving of download especially being free now. Good luck with future sales, and hopefully someday you can add tilt controls and retina new ipad graphics. I love these kind of motion games, and sure wish there were more of them. I dont normally like racers, but the game combines basically every element that makes games more addictive pretty seemlessly -- competition with evenly matched humans, tons of upgradeables that you earn at a good clip, and a mission system. I dont know that the actual game itself is all that amazing (its clearly decent to good), but I dont think I have seen all 3 of the +addictiveness factors in a single game before, at least not done so well and seamlessly, and it makes a big difference. ninjackid Well-Known Member May 27, 2010 9,380 2 38 #18 ninjackid, Jun 5, 2012 Whoa, kinda glad I didn't buy this one after all! DBC Drummerboycroy Well-Known Member Apr 2, 2012 4,172 0 36 Clinician Maine! #20 Drummerboycroy, Jun 5, 2012 This is a great post, and says most if not everything that needs to be said about IOS gaming and the price structure as it stands. As a gamer, and I hate admitting this, but I have been trained to wait for games to go free unless I really want the title, because virtually all of them do indeed end up free. If I really want the title, I pick it up and then wait for the seemingly inevitable day the game gets broken in the name of increased profit for the devs (which I cannot even begrudge honest developers with a clear conscience). I cannot tell you how many paid-for broken games I've deleted from my iPhone at this point. I think the saddest part of your post is this, "Personally, we think the game is worth $.99 so hopefully those who did buy it feel the same way..." When a developer has to actually state that their comparably high quality product, a product that stands to offer a user 10, 15, 20+ hours of enjoyment, is genuinely worth a dollar, something is broken, and I don't mind admitting that I've been trained by the IOS marketplace to be a significant part of that problem. Sadly, I don't know what the answer is, but I agree that devs, users, and I would add the marketplace as a whole have their own share of the blame for the ways things work... So yeah, in short, sales don't bother me in the least. If the product I bought yesterday is the same as it was or better, I'm good with others scooping up a sale. If anything, it means potential new revenue for devs and subsequently potential new syrupy goodness for me. DBC (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
