to put it differently, i guess what i'm asking is - do you feel that so far we haven't reached even near to how fun a game COULD be, and that in the future, we may get some sort of idea that will make games significantly better. let's say the most FUN any individual human can get out of any games that have ever existed so far can be rated at, say, 3. now what if we could somehow crank a game up to a rating of 20, or 50? how much fun can a human brain take? can a game kill a man with fun overload? what are your thoughts? could you say anything about what your personal ultimate game might have in it or be like etc?
I hope the ultimate game never comes along, because that would mark the death of the videogame industry (IMO).
My ultimate game would be a virtual reality, where you are the person in the game. Your actions directly correspond to the person's actions. If you punch, he punches. And all this in 3D
Think though. If you fought a war game you would could suffer from PSTD. Plus could you think how boring the Sims would be.
That game would not work. People would start playing it more than they lived in real life. And by the way, Enviro-Bear 2010 is already the ultimate game.
I believe they intended it to be PTSD: Post Traumatic Stress Disorder where people have flashbacks and are constantly paranoid and skittish. Anywho... Along the lines of the virtual reality idea, something similar to the movie Gamer would be pretty sweet. Except you don't die IRL... Though I do say, real stakes based on the game would be interesting, but that's just my twisted mentality showing through. It could be like a roulette party, and whoever dies first has to die how they did in the game. It's like a mix of Gamer, Stay Alive, and some mafia movie. Just for the record, I'm not advocating this. I'm only pondering aloud (or in text, rather, and the voice in my head is British because I just saw the Get Him to the Greek film). I'm all for a virtual cyber-world and full in-game experience. Can't wait 'til they come out with the game body suits and helmets. =]
I think if I ever got MGS4, that'd be my ultimate game. Unfortunately, I don't have a PS3, nor do I have the funds for one or know anyone who has one that I can use who would let me sit and play through the entire game. I guess I'll just wait for Rising. So far, the ultimate games for me have been MGS 1 and 2 since I've never beaten 3 (although it's really good so far) or 4. I've also gotten into open-world games recently. Games like Destroy All Humans (which I just pulled back out today), GTA, Driver, Simpsons Hit and Run, etc. I'm dying to get Red Dead Redemption, since it seems to be the best of them all from what I hear. I think if they ever made an open-world game in the Metal Gear universe, that'd be the game.
I think the ultimate game would be if gameloft spent all it's resources for like two years and created the ultimate idevice game. And then team up with ea and ngmoco too.... U gota hand it to gameloft where're u like them or not they create great games
Nintendo: Super Steal Kart. Think about all the colorful characters of the Mario, Metroid, Zelda, Star Fox, WarioWare, Pikmin, and other series. In a GTA clone. Running down red pikmin with a vehicle and seeing there little "souls" rise up. Taking place in the different universe. Your choice of protagonist. Pieces of heart as secret packages. Manning turrets on the back of a double dash kart. Going ape crazy in one of Donkey Kong's rampages. Getting missions from characters. Bowser=Pimp. Peach=Escort. Goron=Gang type. Nintendo needs to make this game and heavily market it as not a family title or under a different publisher name to avoid tarnishing their family image.
