SERIOUSLY. I am trying to get my kids into chess. What. Weird. Timing. Of course this is probable not for the iPad version, which would be just my luck. This is certainly among the best chess apps around; many serious chess enthusiasts even say it is the best. I certainly do enjoy the chess puzzles it has, love the auto-adjusting AI (great for improving your Elo) and the engine is extremely powerful. gatizo Well-Known Member Nov 8, 2009 189 0 0 #7 gatizo, May 4, 2011 Agreed, although I'd argue that Chess Tiger, which is currently only a dollar, takes the great deal crown Seriously, get both. These prices are just silly and the least any chess fan can do in return is support the devs. I paid several times the combined price of both apps just for Chess Tiger back in the day on the Palm and I never regretted the purchase once. I promise anyone interested in chess that they won't regret getting the latest version for a buck! Drucifer Well-Known Member Mar 16, 2010 1,568 1 38 Canada #8 Drucifer, May 4, 2011 I have Shredder. Awesome deal. acrotran Well-Known Member Jul 31, 2010 741 0 0 #9 acrotran, May 4, 2011 I finally caved and bought Shredder. This app is just too good to pass up at this price. medianotzu Well-Known Member Nov 21, 2009 3,803 9 36 #10 medianotzu, May 4, 2011 Didn't even know about Tiger Chess, (or simply "CHESS" as it appears on the app store). Looks good though; I just picked it up, thanks for the suggestion. MarkDF Well-Known Member May 17, 2011 61 0 0 #11 MarkDF, Jul 12, 2011 I'm interested in a good chess program and with Shredder's current $1.99 sale looks too good to pass up. However, I have an iPad and an iPhone and don't want to buy the game twice. Since they don't have a universal app, is the iPhone app on the iPad a good enough fit that I can skip the iPad specific version? Thanks. drelbs Well-Known Member Jun 25, 2009 11,200 7 38 #12 drelbs, Jul 12, 2011 Don't have an iPad, so I can't comment on that one, but Shredder is the only chess game on my iPhone right now (used to use 99 Games' chess game for online matches, but haven't played online in quite a while...) It's a quick/strong player and I like the no-frills UI. (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
