Looks pretty good... Couple of questions though: I see you have different grid sizes, which adds an element of increased difficulty on the larger boards, but I also see that you have defined various difficulty "levels" on the *same* board sizes... So what makes up the varying degrees of difficulty on boards of the same size? Simply more repetitiveness on the symbols/animals used? Also, can you tell me if the layouts are dynamically generated each time you play? Or are the layouts pre-determined? ie: Does this game have infinite "replayability"? Thanks...
Hello Brett, There are various components that contribute to the level of difficulty. One is the number of pieces but that is the least important because 9 piece puzzle can also be difficult. The most important element is the actual formula. Formulas take into account a number of factors, some that I won't get into, but one is the number of characters used. The strategy in the formulas has been developed over many years of designing Triazzles. Currently the formulas are not dynamically generated. I have created a large number of formulas and chosen specific ones for each level and format. Additional formulas will likely be added in updates. These layouts will give you a huge number of games to play, almost infinitely re-playable.
Wait a minute... this is like the real Dan Gilbert of Triazzle fame from when I was a young boy who loved these puzzles because of the AMAZING artwork? The same puzzles I'd buy from the Nature Company (R.I.P.) when I lived in California? O.M.G. Wow. Awesome news Dan! Nice work on the game, very happy to see Triazzle is still around. Day one purchase for me.
Hiya Snapster, Yes the same guy, still at it after all these years. Also hoping to get a new paper line out next year. If the iPhone goes well I'll try to move it on to mac, pc, ds, wii and flash too!
We're in final Beta now - so it depends on what improvements we may choose to make after beta is complete. The tentative date is June 19th but check the website as we get closer. We are submitting to Apple around May 22.
I don't think anyone will be disappointed with Triazzle. That's all I can say at this point, but this will be worth the purchase.
Touch Arcade has a copy of the Beta, so hopefully they will do a review. Unfortunately, most current iPhone reviewers are inundated with the big developer products. Triazzle was mostly before their time so they don't recognize it. Many people don't know how popular Triazzle was in the 90s - we literally sold over 5 million of them and its still being developed into new platforms.
Short history of how Triazzle 3.0 has come to be. I got an email form a college professor in Ireland about a year ago. Teaches computer science - brilliant man who has become a good friend. He asked if I had anything going with Triazzle for iPhone. We agreed to do it together as partners. He has done all the code. I have done everything else besides the original music (which is awesome), which was done by Billy White Acre, my brother-in-law. Thats the whole team. A major first for all of us.
New idea today based on various feedback. This will likely be in the first update. I will add a status bar and numerical display across top top of the screen to show how many tiles are fully matched (on 3 sides). As you approach the total number of tiles (the solution) the number display will begin to pulse. This will add drama and give the user additional information!
