One of my game Turtle Fly rank very high 5 hours ago and then disappearing suddenly.... I don't know what's happening. Does any developers face the similar problem?
Maybe you had a lot of sales at the same time and then none for a bit. It can change very quickly in popular categories.
Well it was free and was #1 there and got some popularity there. So when it went back to paid, it was higher up on the charts. But when you go free you cater to either the cheap or those that would have bought it but instead didn't pay a cent for it. Thus, it becomes popular and people tell their friends and stuff. Then, it dies down and the rank falls.
Impossible. It just disappeared suddenly. If it dies down, there should be a decrease in trend, not sudden disappearing.
I just read this thread, seems many developers come across the same problem: http://www.iphonedevsdk.com/forum/business-legal-app-store/84288-itunes-glitch-app-ranked-very-high-then-disappearing.html
Like The Heist, Feed Me Oil which both ranked #1 once. But when they have sales, they will rank up again, all are concerned with price.
I can confirm something strange is happening... Rc Plane 2 launched yesterday, today it reached very high positions (for us at least ) in all appStores, both iPhone and iPad. All of a sudden we where trown out of ALL charts on all stores in all the world. Looking at actual charts, it seems a backup from a few days ago.
Actually, it is a ton harder to get downloads going to paid. They see, hey this was free! If others got it for free then why should I pay? And they don't buy it. The app will rank high for just a little bit right after going from top ten free---> paid then drop really quickly. It only ranks high because it just had a ton of publicity by being #1. Just dropping really quickly because people just stop dling it happens. Sorry :/
Look at the 2 charts: http://j2sighte.com/bcd.png Both Turtle Fly and RC Plane 2 disppear in ranks at 12:00.
I'm seing the situation back to "almost normal" on some stores (US for us) but not on all. Have often experienced moments of crazyness in appStore, but usually after a few hours it gets back to normal (about a year ago there had been 3 days of frozen charts)
If you take a look at Red Ball 3, you will get shocked by its ranking change over one night(#280-#59). http://www.appannie.com/red-ball-3/ranking/history/#start_date=2011-06-13&end_date=2011-06-30
I think I'd confirm this too from what I've seen. For example: SF IV Volt was #2 on the US App Store. Now it can't be found. (like RC Plane 2)All the gameloft sale games skyrocketed, now you have to search to find them. Sonic Racing was dropping to around 50, then suddenly went up to 25 again....And it looks identical to a coyple days ago. Apple has a glitch on their hands... Edit: back to normal again now...
I noticed yesterday that my hourly ranks through applyzer were broken. The position was stuck - no rank change. This haappened in appfigures too yesterday for several hours - then some changes then stuck again. I think there was some app store glitch or some change on apples part. Looks ok today Also not sure what you were talking about with free and paid charts.. Lets say: day 1 - on paid charts at position 100 day 2 - set app free, reach 50 on free charts day 3 - set app paid again day 10 - set app free again on day 3, your rank on the paid chart will be as if you had ZERO sales on day 2. Similarly in the other direction. On day 10, your rank will be as if you had ZERO downloads from day 3 to 10 - i.e. while you were in the paid charts. There's no rank cross over between the paid and free charts. Not sure if that's what you were taking about, sorry if not
