Agreed - but it is the chicken and the egg scenario - this site was just started recently and you don't have instant traffic to a site. It takes time to build up traffic and awareness of a site existing. Also, I am not sure how Alexa works, but don't you have to have their toolbar installed which basically communicated back to them about your sites visited, etc (I coul dbe wrong)? Only the owner of the domain can provide real traffic stats - that would be interesting to compare to Alexa's stats :)

Here is another one just starting - http://www.todaysfreeapp.com This one allows you to request a date to be featured so that you can be featured on the same date as another site you may have already signed up for.

You are right john. Traffic is too low compared to other calendars but still i think it will grow.

I signed up with http://www.todaysfreeapp.com also. I'm in an unusual position in that I'm trying to drive traffic towards, what is essentially already a free app (my free app has a limited number of high score submissions each month). I'm going to make the app "free" server side by offering 999 minutes of free online play.

The thing is, I think it's important we support these kinds of sites - the new ones especially. I think we all understand the value of exposure.

You scratch their back and they'll scratch yours!

Surely the point of the website is to announce & promote the free game of the day not repeatedly posting in a thread?

  14. Apparently not. :)

    Wrong Forum?

Besides the shady question of "post shilling" that seems to be going on here... wouldn't these "announcements" be better made in the 'game forums' instead of the 'developer' forum (unless the point is to 'shill' the site for developers to sign up to?)...

    dunno... just asking?

I really don't know the answer (wrong forum, shilling), however I do have a comment.

What nazara_tech is doing is counter-productive. By posting in this forum or announcing the free game on Twitter, traffic is not driven through http://greatappaday.com (which seems to be the source).

I am much more apt to retweet something on Twitter if it contains a link to a review, rather than a direct link to iTunes. My reason is pretty simple- someone did the work to give you a review, REPAY THEM by linking to your review and push traffic through their site.

In general, I would urge everyone to link back to the SOURCE, rather than directly to iTunes. If people want to complain that it is an extra step, all I can say is that the game is FREE. Is it really too much to ask that you actually do one extra step to help the devs and those who support their efforts?

@nazara_tech: Are you a bot, or what? ;)

This is probably not the best strategy to promote your site...
