I guess Gameloft wanted to join the frenzy. Here's a recent tweet:

They're dropping to free permanently and adding ads on menus and loading screens.

Yeah, just saw this from their Facebook page:

What kind of games will be offered? We've selected a variety of classic hits taken from our catalogue of action, sports, casual and family titles, plus anything in between.

How long will this offer last? This is a permanent price change. Once these games are free, they'll stay free in the future, too.

Are these games demos or lite versions? Will I need to unlock them progressively through in-app purchases? No, these are the full games, and they will be entirely accessible after they've been downloaded. The only change is that menus and loading screens now display ad banners. No additional screens or unskippable ads have been added, so you can get the full original experience of each game.

So technically, if these are dropping to free permanently, then it's not a "deal", but guess this still warrants putting here.

Say what you want about Gameloft but at they always seemed to take the format seriously (untill recently with weak freemium business model).

I winder if this means they'll be updating paid editions to include advertisements.

Maybe this explains why they pulled Let's Golf 2.

New Gameloft sucks. If Nova 3 is freemium i will never download another of their games.

Heh, I didnt see that they were going free with ads, I'm reaaaaaaaally not liking Gameloft anymore. Before MC3 the only GL game I was interested in was NOVA 2, if they keep going freemium, I'm not going to download another of their games

Well, the whole freemium thing didn't affect me as all of their newer games are 3GS and up only. I admit that they do put a lot of effort into their games (even if they rarely have an original idea), but the whole app store seems to be going towards the freemium and/or ad-supported idea. And I'm not liking it - one bit.

Because the ads are only in the menus and load screen, this seems minor to me. It's not like you've got anything else to look at. The games are still the same.

And we don't even know what the games are going to be yet.

Yeah, if you guys haven't realized already, when Gameloft puts out "deals", they aren't really deals.

Yeah, I was surprised when I saw they were giving out games, but, oh well. Not like I'd want any games I don't have :/

You're a bag of lies (see what I did there?) :p

Everybody will end up downloading a Gameloft game, no matter what they say on the internet.

Ah, I remember the good old days. At this time last year, Gameloft was giving away some of their older premium titles for free; there was no catch. :'(

What you said is actually a bag of lies. :p

I have yet to download a freemium game from GL, outside of the racing one just to see how they modeled it.

Alright enough is enough. I don't know why you can't all play nice.

Since this isn't technically a "sale," the thread is getting closed.
