"The rumours were true: Telltale Games is making an officially licensed Game of Thrones saga based on HBO's smash-hit show in 2014. These rumours were confirmed by Telltale at Spike network's VGX 2013 Game Awards show, and while the official announcement was light on details, it should be enough to get most fans of Westeros excited. From what Telltale confirmed, there'll be battles in the game, but the series won't place a heavy focus on combat. In other words, expect it to be closer to The Walking Dead than Dynasty Warriors. Additionally, we're not sure what level of intimacy to expect from the frequently philandering cast of Game of Thrones. Show host Joel McHale cheekily inquired if there'd be sex scenes in the game, to which Telltale co-founder Kevin Bruner innocently responded, "There are sex scenes on the show?" We'll be sure to keep you updated with details of this release as we have them." Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel We need a Breaking Bad episodic series next
I always hate it when my game of musical chairs ends up with someone being hit in the back with a chair, can't imagine what it would be like if I was in one of those games
The game is certainly not fake. At this point, however, there is no word about platforms. An iOS release seems likely, but it's not confirmed.
Telltale is also making a Borderlands themed game; but like Squarezero said there's no confirmation of iOS platform for either.
Was The Wolf Among Us announced for iOS prior to its launch this week? Haven't been following gaming news but I was very surprised at the fact that they released it so soon after the PC release (a few months ago)? Seems only likely that this would be on iOS as well as on the PC.
I can't think of a better match. Telltale have nailed grit and ruthlessness which are both in abundance in GOT. I'm hoping this got Martin's nod of approval though. Considering it's based off the show and Martin has continually said he doesn't want anyone screwing with his characters it seems like a big step green lighting this. Either way this will be beyond excellent.
I really would hope that a GoT game would be a RTS or Tactics game where you start by choosing your house and then entering into negotiations or battles with other houses. If this is just another series like TT's Walking Dead series, I'll pass and just play Final Fantasy Tactics until Liege comes out. Because from what I've read, Liege is going to be everything I'd want from a GoT game. I feel like the books and TV show are story driven enough... I want to actually control some battles in this universe. Or fight some White Walkers in the snow.
Thanks for mentioning this, UC! I hadn't heard about that before. I just hit my six hour mark on BL2, so I'm really really really happy to have a game series that I actually know some of the story for.
