Hey there TouchArcade members! First off we'd like to introduce ourselves. We are NuPlay Entertainment, a Canadian-based game studio looking to branch off into the iPhone market with our first iPhone game, Daro! Help Daro the Dragon recover all of the lost golden dragon eggs on the PC, Mac, and iPhone later this year! Here is some early footage demonstrating Daro's the core gameplay. Stay tuned for more updates as Daro evolves.[/B]
Ugh. Sorry, but talk about a terrible game. You basically just used the Torque platformer starter kit, how lame. If you want I could help you with some original 3D assets and/or textures. Not trying to offend you, but this needs a lot of work.
No offence taken! All constructive critism welcome, but could you please explain how it is a "terrible game"? This is in its early stages - as of now the engine has effects, 3 world types (basic; seen in the video, ice, and fire.), and 5 more enemy types.
It's terrible in the aspect that you've basically just taken the Torque platformer engine, done little to it, and called it your game. The engine is fine, just not you doing what your doing. Again I'd love to help you make it "yours", but posting what you did is not a good idea. At least wait until you get your own assets in.
This game looks really fun! Can't wait for it to come out Would you happen to be looking for beta testers?
Yeah I do, I'll send it if you're interested. I'm also a level designer (NanoMechs), but I really would like to know how much programming experience you have. 99% of the time when someone does what you just did they have little to no experience. You could very well be that 1% I'm just proceeding with caution.
I've been programming (in general) for a little over 5 years. I come from a PHP and Java background. An example of my work is a web-based game, www.mafiame.com. This game will be ported to work on the iPhone in the near future. I've been programming in-house iPhone apps for the past 2 years for various companies, one being Dejero (www.dejero.com), which live streams the iPhone camera to the internet. As you've pointed out (and I thought I made clear) this is very early development, showing off some various engine additions I've made. Sorry for any misdirection I've made due to this thread and the video! I am interested. Could you PM with a link to your portfolio?
No problem, it's just that we've had a LOT of rip-off games as of late and I figured this was another one. A lot of Dev's don't post here till they've submitted (or are about to submit) to Apple. I'll send you my work when I get to my PC (on my mobile device ATM).
Looks like my naiveity when it comes to iPhone game development promotion is showing! Haha. Thank you for informing me though, I was unaware that "Upcoming" meant within a few weeks, I thought it was more of a development-log type section. I look forward to seeing your portfolio very soon!
It can be for as long as you want (no specific rule), but a lot of games have a development blog then move here a few weeks prior to release.
