Earlier I was cleaning out my iPad in settings, and noticed that iMessage is taking up a whopping 680 megabytes....and I can't seem to delete these "saved" messages, even though they're deleted on the iMessage app and I'm actually signed out (haven't used it in a while). Anyone know how to get this half a gig back? Driving me nuts. Edit: I also have this annoying notification for my settings, even though I've updated to iOS 7.0.2.
Just checked mine - 382mb (saved) messages! Didn't know that 0_0' not sure how to delete, maybe deleting every message may help through the app...
My iMessage usage went from 1.2 GB down to 692 MB after erasing all of my conversations. Kind of annoying, I figured the whole point of having the "pull down to load more" mechanic was that it'd pull them from servers so you don't have to waste space on old messages.
ehmm, silly question.. Where I can check the size of imessage? I'm using iPad btw and didn't seems there's imessage size on usage menu.
Wow, losing all that space for just messages? Wow, that hurts. If someone has a 8 gb system, it is alot to lose.
Maybe it's related to this, and never actually got fixed: http://www.idownloadblog.com/2013/02/06/ios-saved-your-sms-attaches/ Also, the end of this thread has people talking about deleting an "sms" folder using a third party tool: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3418045?start=945&tstart=0 ...but it seems to me like it still takes up quite a hefty amount of space even when it's clean. Maybe iMessage just reserves ~700 MB of system memory to ensure you'll never have issues with receiving photo/video messages.
