      i dont care if this question has already been answered. Please tell me because its important to know:

      will the iphone 3.0 firmware be released on a brand new iphone or a normal update?

      well, just to be nice to the OP, 3.0 is free for iphone and 3g users, 10 bucks for ipod touch users. While there are pretty reliable rumors of a third generation iphone/pod touch coming out this summer, which would obviously come with the 3.0 software, Apple has not yet confirmed it.

      And regarding the software itself, it mostly benefits the developers, though consumers get a few perks i.e. copy/paste, MMS for 3g owners, and a few other improvements.
