Well, as some of you know, I am working on a similar game to pokemon and I have a question I'd like to ask anyone interested. Do you want it 2D (easier on me) or 3D/2D like the screenshot in the upcoming games section:Similar game to pokemon, anyone?
I didn't think it was appropriate to post it in the upcoming games section and can you add a poll to an already existing thread?
I'd enjoy 3D, but whatever is easier. You could keep it classic at 2D, I wouldn't mind at all. As long as the gameplay beats the graphics. edit: yes! Make it 3D like pokemon DPP!
Do you mean 3D like in pokemon diamond or pearl? If so, only use 3D for landscapes, keep the creatures and characters 2D. :/
I didn't really like the 3D style in DPP. I think I like the old 2D style better. It'd be cool if you could allow full directional freedom, but I don't know how possible that is.
I'd rather not. If I were to make an RPG like Pokemon, I'd make it 3D and give the main character a shot at classes, like the ability to heal his monster, or fight along side it with a rifle, pistol, sword, or magic staff. People always say, "Lets make an RPG where you can train monsters!" or "Lets make an RPG where you can fight your own battles in with a choice of multiple classes." Well, I got an idea. How about both? I know there are games like that already, but I mean more about the pets than you, with complex pet system.
2D, definitely. Simpler on you, less likely to look like crap to us, and, let's face it, less time on graphics leaves more time for gameplay/story.
Make a Poll!! =D Yeah, 2D. Not for sure but 2D = less Game MB size? Which means more space for more creatures? Sims 3 (3D) and New York Nights. (2D) I found New York Nights looked better than Sims 3. Sims 3 graphics were really jagged. :S
2.5D please all 2D will look boring all 3D will make the FPS go down, again look at the graphic on Zenonia, I think they should look like that
2D is good enough, don't waste time on a gimmick when you could be focusing on polishing the gameplay. Good luck!
