I saw that VII was $10.99. Isn't that a sale price too? I thought it was $14.99-19.99.

I have never played any of them. If I were only to get 'one', which should it be? ..and if I were to only get '3' of them?? Please state your reasoning if you happen to have time. Thank you.

Final Fantasy 6 is a masterpiece.

    It's just that simple.

iOS9 required for Chrono Trigger? You've gotta be kidding!

If you have the latest gen iDevice then 7 is the clear cut choice. Some lag on the overworld map, but it has the storyline that aged the best given the human depth to it and the sort of convoluted nature of it all. If you're on an older device, 7 on the overworld map may be so laggy as to be unplayable I've heard. Which means 6 is then the most logical choice. It is often hailed as the "true" best Final Fantasy by older fans, but this has everything to do with how old you are when you play your first FF than anything else, because upon revisiting it you might be surprised as to just how shallow the story and its tropey characters really are. Amazing for its time, and definitely the next strongest entry in the series regardless. Last I would recommend 4, the other other "true" best Final Fantasy. This is when FF finally got good and it has some of the most iconic characters and music in the series(best overworld map theme!).

So, if you have the latest and greatest iPhone/Pad, get 7, then 6, then 4. If not, just get 6 and 4 and call it a day. 4 has supplemental material like "The After Years" as well which aren't necessary but are nice extensions to the universe.

Do make sure to check all three of them out eventually. It can be a divisive series, and if you don't end up enjoying 7 as much, 6 might turn out to be the one for you. Either way, those three are the absolute essentials, and will let you know what the series is all about. Keep in mind that 7 is nearly 20 years old now, and the rest even moreso, but they should stand the test of time even for a newcomer.

Yup... 7 too, but not the iOS version unless you have an MFi controller so you can get rid of the onscreen controls :D

I have every final fantasy game in the App Store excpept one and I am wondering if it's any good and that's Final Fantasy 4 the after years. I went ahead and added it to my wish list since the sale is gonna last a couple weeks.

It's decent, but to rate the FF titles i'd put that at the bottom. Maybe others here would rate it higher, but im sure it wont be in any top 3.

I'd say it's still worth picking up for a playthrough though.

How well does FF6 play on iPad without a controller?

I played through the iOS version very recently without a controller and it plays flawlessly. Only 7 has its quirks so far due to it being a bit more modern, but nothing gamebreaking. I know a lot of people had trouble with the "chair" part way later on because they didn't understand you had to hold down multiple buttons on the screen. But the older titles like 4 and 6 are excellent ports control wise.

Just picked up Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions! Really excited since Final Fantasy Tactics Advance was my favourite. How's the comparison for both of them, if anyone's played the two?
