Together with RockaByte we are very proud to announce the release of a game that will challenge even the heartiest of gamers! While on a journey through a powerful game, you will go on a brain teasing adventure to release mystical forces that are held within magical shapes. TheLost Shapes center around the game of Magic Chess, a game which revives the power of ancient shapes, sun, stars, and moon, and is all the rage among magical folk! Follow your teacher, Willow, a wizard with a mysterious past, as he trains you to rebuild such shapes within a limited amount of time with decorated tiles that can be lined up to form shapes and patterns in Shape Mode and Survival Mode. Shape Mode consists of 30 levels of building simple shapes and then advancing to intricate patterns specified on the board. Survival Mode tasks players with remaking as many of those shapes and patterns as possible to level up endlessly. All shape building must be done as quickly as possible to keep the score multiplier high and the tile queue open. If the tile queue gets full, its game over! Just when players think they have their hand on Wizard Chess, the game will display its even wider variety of tiles. Bomb tiles blow away obstacles on the board so nothing stands in the way of making a shape. Snowflake tiles freeze the tile queue to buy time. Nuke tiles clear the board when it gets too full. Locked tiles cant be moved once they are placed. And numbered tiles can be used more than once. Those who dare to play Magic Chess will also see their names glowing with power among the Game Center leaderboards. Where friends will become challengers as they try to topple the people they know and prove that they are the masters. However... This is not all. We would like to give you some additional information about The Lost Shapes! Not only were the graphics and animation a focus but if you do not have good sound effects and voice acting your game will also not have the memoriable experience that is your goal. With quality in mind it was important to find people who could speak clearly... that in fact would not only sound pleasing to the ear but also be understood without question. After all once you have designed a story and a scene: You have to have voices right? So the decision was made to choose Andy Valvur who has done voice-over acting for games like "Psychonauts" and "Star Trek TNG: A Final Unity" and Thomas Balou Martin who has appeared in Television and Movies. With our Voice-Actors chosen, scripts prepared, and story boards shaping up the true work began...
As the story goes on the creative team at RockAByte goes into overdrive... producing frames... stills... and scripts. A background that helps to set the tone for the game... Ancient drawings that give a glimpse into the past.... While men of knowledge seek out the shapes to learn what celestial energy is found within them... This is more than just a game... it is also a mystical journey into the past. As you grow more powerful and master larger and more complex mystical shapes the challenge will increase and grow. Will you have what it takes to truely master the shapes?
If you all follow our website you have already seen and understand that the finalized appearance of our wizard Willow was determined... You know what? This looks great. And the voices being done by a pro - awesome. Question though: Is the voice actor only the "tutor"? How often will he speak? I'm a big sucker for voice acting. Oh, the "hmmmm" from the trailer is rather annoying...
