No. There have been games, outright identical, to angry birds since the early 2000's. I played them on PC frequently and almost all were free titles; newgrounds used to be full of them as were most flash game sites. The first one that I specifically remember playing was around 2002, i think, and was exactly what is pictured earlier in the topic; a game about killing medieval knights, with a catapult, loaded with a variety of ammo types, by breaking apart a physics based castle. Angry Birds is absolutly a clone and a decade late at that.
Crush the Castle is among the games commonly credited as being "the original Angry Birds." I think I heard there was another one before that, too... if not many more. Either way, anyone who claims Angry Birds is a wholly original concept needs to get their gaming history rectified.
Absolutly and Crush the Castle is actually the game I remembered playing. However, my dating seems to be off... oh how time flies. I do remember earlier titles but apparantly that must have been closer to 2005-2006, I'd imagine they were some type of early prototype popping-up as flash gaming began to take off.
I personally think crush the castle is wy better then angry birds, haven't tried the iOS version though. Anyone tried it? And yes, angry birds definitely a clone, they just used a smart skin for the game that most people died fir
In your definition, almost every single game out there is a clone (so is every book, movie, tv show, etc.). Nothing wrong with a game taking an idea and going its own way with it - it becomes a problem when they steal assets and complete game concepts outright.
Gonna play it if.... I am going to play it if it will be able to run on a iPod Touch 3G 32GB running IOS 5.1.1!
