Don't some of the Cabe SHUMPS have modes unlockable by iap? Or maybe I'm thinking of the "Smartphone" vs. "Arcade" vs. "Black Label" versions. The follow-the-finger controls scheme isnt working much for me. Lacks the finesse that relative touch gives us. Also, the hitbox is the entire ship it seems, makes it a little difficult to maneuver, in addition to the control scheme. awp69 Well-Known Member Oct 30, 2009 8,249 0 36 Greenville, SC #13 awp69, Mar 15, 2013 The controls are ashame. Hope the dev updates it to either give more options or just switch to relative touch. I like the Geometry Wars style and think the game has potential. Royce Well-Known Member Mar 22, 2011 4,239 179 63 #14 Royce, Mar 15, 2013 A shmup without RT? They're gonna have to go lower than free I think, or travel back to 2009. nightc1 Well-Known Member Oct 19, 2012 4,362 0 0 AL #15 nightc1, Mar 15, 2013 Played a little of this. Relative touch is needed, but it controlled better than some other games I've played with more direct touch controls. Graphical effects were just gorgeous and power up system seems pretty good. Normal mode was pretty hard. A little tweak to the controls and this would be a pretty amazing game for even more serious shmup fans. I wonder if an update is in the works or something? I never understand why devs do that though... give the game out after it's tweaked, not before. If it doesn't stand up to that first play then people are going to already have deleted it before an update hits. psj3809 said in the game thread (just did a search) that he emailed the dev and they mentioned putting relative touch into the next update. Maybe that's what's about to happen. http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=181764&highlight=field+fighter Ug... maybe I'll keep this for a week or so and then delete it if an update doesn't hit. I'd hate to just give up on this right before it gets better controls and is suddenly amazing. Im sure they'd get more attention that way (TA is a start at least) and im sure from the promise alone, a few people are already going to download. This may be wishfukl thinking, but that's what imma do if it was me. Then reality hits, and it isnt. syntheticvoid Well-Known Member Jun 20, 2010 14,504 124 63 Musician & factory worker. a[V-O-I-D] http://apparentsymmetry.bandcamp.com #17 syntheticvoid, Mar 15, 2013 ... if only everyone had common sense. nightc1 Well-Known Member Oct 19, 2012 4,362 0 0 AL #18 nightc1, Mar 15, 2013 It's the cheapest way to advertise, so I doubt devs will stop doing free promotions. They just need to get smarter about when to do the free deal so the folks that will talk about games and help spead the word will get the best product possible otherwise it's worse than posting bunch of promo codes to a public forum that all get zapped up by the lurkers. The lurkers aren't going to complain about a control scheme like the vocal will. Then again, if devs would just recruit in enough real gamers to their projects... maybe the whole issue of controls would be addressed before the game ever releases. Now that would be a dream come true as all too often it feels like a game release is an opportunity to beta test. SumoSplash Well-Known Member Sep 27, 2011 2,123 0 36 Playing iOS games, duh. I am liking the presentation, but the difficulty spike on level 2 is ridiculous. The kamikaze ships that your weapons are not strong enough to take out are super cheap, not to mention you get hit from the rear at the same time. Hmmm. The game has potential. Man, when is this crap going to stop? I guess whatever potential I saw here will be limited by difficulty spikes and IAP. (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
