I did some searching on the forums, but could not find any convincing leads on a RTS game to get for my 3GS. I liked Age of Empires II a great deal because it could be played slowly, had a good skirmish mode, and was relatively simple. Anyone have a favorite RTS game they would recommend ? Thanks !
iphone doesnt really have RTS games out at the moment. there was one that came out awhile back, forgot the name of it though.
I'm not a big fan of quantum collapse, and i'm still hoping to see the multiplayer they were going to add.. (also in warfare inc, but I still love that game for it's gameplay). I would buy Warfare Inc. first just to get a taste of what's to come, then Quantum Collapse.
They're both pretty poor RTS games IMO, I'm waiting patiently for the C&C Red Alert port (http://uk.wireless.ign.com/articles/991/991368p1.html). Herzog Zwei on genesis4iphone is my current RTS of choice
Hey guys, seriously, don't take this as a plug. I'm on these forums because we just wrapped development on Lion Pride and another thread chatted me up. While working on the game the entire team thought it'd be awesome to make an RTS using a combination of line drawing and unit control. There were real moments where we felt like we were wageing war across the savannah. We wanted knights, archers, monsters, etc. It isn't something we'd do as a developer (we just make games based around animals), but I think there is huge potential for a killer app in this space and not just some port. Second biggest request was line draw zombie game ~Ed
And to add to the list of coming RTS games, I messaged jakooistra (maker of Blue Defense! and Blue Attack!) about the third game in the series and it will be an RTS available in October/November as long as everything works out.
Great idea, Ed. Will look out for this. As for the OP, I highly recommend Quantum Collapse. Although Warfare is fine yet pricier, it got me bored after a few hours into the gameplay. Quantum is the better of the two. The Lite version is free so check it out. I also read that Javier Davalos, the developer and is a regular here, is about to submit the skirmish multiplayer update soon so it's definitely something to look forward to.
