So we've been working on Punch Quest. It's an arcade fighter, kind of like Final Fight or Double Dragon, but controlled by just tapping with your left and right thumb. You uppercut, jab, and midair-slam monsters in a varied, randomly generated dungeon with branching paths. Ride a dinosaur that shoots lasers out of its mouth, customize your character with new abilities, hats, and supermoves, get massive combos, this game has it all. You can block by holding both thumbs down at once, which also makes you stop running. There are two slots for abilities and one to pick your supermove, letting you change your character for different play styles. Punch Quest has a focus on variety, with many rare events to find. We're also totally stealing Jetpack Joyride's mission system, though ours will be goofier.
This looks awesome. I love how it seems like you're going to be incorporating style from lots of different games and merging them into one! I've gotten bored of Jetpack Joyride, so maybe this can be my next addiction.
Yep, been excited about this one since I saw Madgarden mention it a while back. Now that I've seen the footage, I'm even more excited.
Sounds really promising! I love me some side-scrolling beat em up action. They totally should've had this in Cadillacs and Dinosaurs
LOL... Youre right about the instabuy though. So i'll just have to say it... INSTABUY! It's also a pseudo runner game so MUSTBUY!
Lol, first dev who openly admits stealing from another game: Still can't decide if this is dumb or likeable. Guess it is both.
i been playin' TEST BUILDS. 8) it rules. when you PUNCH STUFF it goes flying and bouncing along, knocking into other enemies etc.. the whole thing feels awesomely good, and yeah, looks like it'd be totally at home in a greasy arcade cab in the early 90s. everything feels so solid...this game has a great sense of timing. the two button controls are cool and give a surprising amount of Things You Can Do.
Mission system's a pretty great thing to steal. Though I think Jetpack Joyride got it directly from Tiny Wings.
