Just wondering if anybody can tell me if theirs going to be any Turn based RPG style games that are any good comeing out on the Iphone/itouch. Played everything. Vay, Chronicles, The Quest, Seed, Zenonia, ect. I even downloaded Ravensword and Crusade of Destiny and Underworlds. Man I've played everything. I want something like FF, or Breath of Fire, or Dragon Quest. Really don't think any of the above mentioned games are any good. All very basic. Not difficult and the ones that were not basic and hard were not turn based. I would really like to see a port of FF6 ya know. Something fun. I have tried to jailbreak my itouch (sorry if thats illegal or something, besides it didnt work) but its the only way i know of to get any good games on my itouch. 32g itouch is worthless if all you can do on it is listen to music and play crappy games like vay (GOOD for its time, it was good just not what i want) Lie to me if you have to I just want some good news.
There is a fantastic built-in RPG coming with the latest models of iPhone and iPod touch. This is truly fantastic and imho better than all FF games together. I'm still wondering why nobody mentioned it before. I'm absolutely addicted.
No need to bash a bunch of solid rpgs because they aren't the specific type of rpg you are looking for, why that makes you seem like a close minded square fanboy
Lol solid rpgs. Negative. Really only bashed Chronicles and Vay, which Vay was so simple you could sleep walk through it. And Chronicles was just a port from a cell phone. Besides that, All the games listed above don't really follow a solid TURN BASED game play model. Haven't seen a solid turn based rpg yet. Yipe 5 is a humor based game. Very basic. Really only any good because of its humor and interesting design. Gameplay is so-so and really only relys on the fact that your going to grind out some money to get better armor and weapon. And minmae. I know nothing about really. (I remember seeing this game. LOL Yea Rpg Quest Minmae, lets blow 3.50 on a game thats 1.5 hours long. Yea right. I would rather eat my itouch. Without any hot sauce.) Seriously what are the developers thinking not designing a turn based game on what could have been the heavy hitter of rpg gaming on the handheld market. Instead. PSP wins. BAH hate the psp.)
I can't understand why you would think that The Quest is "very basic." It is, in fact, a very complex Turn Based RPG with over 40 hours of gameplay (not counting the expansions). Your characterization of it suggests either that 1) you haven't actually played it; or 2) you are such a Square Enix fanboy that you can appreciate complexity only when it's presented in SE's bombastic style. When you say you've played Chronicles, do you mean Chronicles of Inotia, Chronicles of Inotia II, or Elven Chronicles. They're all very different games.

Really well done for a phone (ie before the iphone and what not) Didn't Like the first Chronicles of Inotia. Not at all. Thought it was really, uhmmm looking for the word. boring. And poor mechanics. However i have seen a lot about the second one and it looks awesome. Im just afraid to blow that much money on it. Considering I've wasted too much money on dissappointing games. If i could try it. Then i might consider it. And to finally answer the Quest being basic. It was basic. It reminded me a lot of Elder Scrolls for the ps3 in the sense that i could Exploit the *heck* out of that game and be way too good way too early. That was fun. Got to the second expansion a ways in. And quit. Couldn't take the blocky moving around and FPS view. I really appreciate everybodies posts tho. Im not trying to come off as a jerk or anything. Nobody would call Oblivion (the only Elder Scroll game to make it to the PS3) a "basic game"; it just happens to be different from the standard turn-based JRPG. Frankly, it seems that what you are looking for is a Square Enix RPG. Well, they don't make them for the iPod Touch (the closest they've come is Song Summoner). Might want to look into getting a DS. Lock3Bon3 Member Dec 29, 2009 22 0 0 washington state #16 Lock3Bon3, Dec 29, 2009 That's like novel worthy. LOL Turn based. Ok. First characters, 2-3 maybe 4 playables. Notable not all at the same time. Even more if they could, Alternating (ie VAY). Battle screen, with attacks, magic, items. Levels. Monsters (random encounters are always the best) Sensible armor and weapons. Not easy. Not at least on the first play through, i want to die At least once in the beginning and more later. I don't want to control my stats in the point based system. Possible with incentives to equip certain items during leveling. Items, random, magical, LOTS of items. Like a mix between Zenonia, vay, SEED. (Items glory, gameplay, prettiness respectiveable) And quests are ridiculous. Who wants to grind like a Korean MMORPG thats free everywhere. Nobody. And well written. I want to like my PC's. I want to feel bad. When that archer dood in vay dies. I basically thought. Ahhh man their goes that guy. Oh Well. i could go on. Ive been programming a TB game but i dont own a mac so no chance of anything i do comeing out on itouch. Not to mention the price to put something out. Sorry about spelling. But At the same time. I really enjoyed Dragon Quest, breath of fire, and Illusion Of Gaia. To name three. Console style tho. Is only because nobody else will release them anywhere else. Square enix is just a specific company that always comes to mind because they do it best. And JRPG. Doesnt have to be that way. =) Its all based off the idea. Of turnbased rpg.
