Depends on what's important to you. While Star Defense offers a 3D spherical environment, the TD concepts used in the game can be basic. The towers don't even physically change when upgraded which is a missed opportunity on the 3D front. This has a bonus challenge sphere which allows for endless attack waves. Sentinel 2 is 2D and follows a more traditional TD path. It has more weapons, and the graphics are the usual top notch from Origin8. This also has more weapons and physically changing towers when upgraded. The one knock is that it has 4 maps. But it has 8 missions that will challenge you in other ways.
I vote GeoDefense or Defender Chronicles... if you don't already have.. reason being... sentinel 1 didn't really have that many major updates... so I'm guessing sentinel 2 won't either. A lot of TD games usually update with more maps, etc. Sentinel 1 did have an update that included new towers and I think a new map... but it seems other TD games have far more updates (more maps, towers, enemies) than sentinel did. I really liked sentinel... was one of my favourite TD games when it came out... but after using many other TD games... I seemed to get more bang for my buck with them. I'm hoping GeoDefense will put out some more maps soon... What other TD games has a "name here" 2? Just seems sorta lame... I paid $5 when it first came out... but lack of maps, updates will lead me to NOT purchase sentinel 2 unless I can get it for 99 cents. And I was a huge sentinel fan... TD games are what I play most.. and I neither have star defense or sentinel.
This is like asking a parent which of their two children do they like the best. Flip a coin man, they're both amazing.
I wasn't sure which one to get too. I bought Sentinel 2, cause I enjoyed the 1, and yes, is e well designed TD with good difficulty. It is a good TD that will make you think. Then, I couldn't resist and bought Star Defense too, I know, is more expensive but well polished, I enjoyed it too, the cinematic aspect and good graphics, is awesome this game, but the difficulty or strategy is pretty basic. Simply as this: Sentinel has good difficulty, will make you think and enjoy it. Star Defense is like Windows Vista: is just good "vista" , good graphics but is the basic TD
Star Defense towers DO change upon upgrade. It's not a huge change, but it's enough to be noticeable.
star defense was terrible. Well maybe not terrible, but had nothing that made it unique, or fun even. Get something else.
I was thinking the same thing - The towers do change. I vote Star Defense - It is THE game that made me get into TD Games (Actually, a video of it two months ago made me get into them) I own: Sentinel 1 (one of the ugliest ipod icons) Sentinel 2 Star Defense Defender Chronicles Fieldrunners Knights Onrush 7 Cities Sweetwater Defense Dungeon Defense Tap Defense Geo Defense The Creeps Tower Madness and a few more. I am a bad influence though, I just bought my 525th game (all full games, not lite) It's a nasty addiction, I know!
Actually, Star Defense is QUITE unique. And it has been nothing but fun for me. I have been playing video games for almost 33 years and it takes a lot for a game to pull me in. Star Defense is a very beautiful game as well. Unfortunately, you are going to have to try these games on your own to find out - as people in TA have extremely mixed feelings. I run into people that worship Star Defense, and people that despise it. I actually have more against NGMoco than anything.
I have seen people lump it with these games, so I figured I would too. I know, it's castle defense. (I hate abreviating)
