We're very excited to announce our upcoming game, WORLD 1-1. WORLD 1-1 is a retro styled "endless platformer". Dash through the world delivering pizzas, the delivery guarantee doesn't make exceptions for alien invasions A new challenging world is generated every day, filled with easter eggs to spot. It has simple, intuitive controls: tap to jump and tilt or use the buttons to control the running speed. You keep running forward as in an endless runner, but the speed changes gives a great level of control as you jump and run. A gameplay video! An iPad version will be coming; we plan for it to include a level-builder tool for people to design and share their own worlds. https://www.facebook.com/WORLD-1-1 May 1st: updated video
I was skeptical about the tilt controls too, until they got working right But we'll be adding buttons as well, for those who don't like tilting. Programming away!
I guess I can give this a try. Will message you soon. I don't particularly like tilt, but I'll try it.
So far, here are my imps: Pros: Awesome concept, the control over your speed makes it feel much more like a traditional platformer than an endless runner. LOVING this aspect of the game. Cool retro graphics. I like the mystery box, plus it seems like a decent price for $25. Cons / things to be worked on: Goodness gracious, PLEASE move the "Double slices?" button. I put my thumb in the lower right corner whe playing, and I've launched that IAP almost every game. Either the guy on the icon needs to have darker skin or the guy in-game needs to have lighter skin, just for continuity. One looks caucasian and the other hispanic or black. The tilt controls could use some work - namely, there's only three speeds you can go, and it would be more enjoyable if it was more fluid. Button controls will be nice when they arrive. Terrain graphics could use some work. The game could benefit from a few non- true 8-bit effects (See mikey shorts or The Other Brothers) to spice if up a little and make it feel a little more modern. A toggle to turn off screen rotation (when you tilt) would be nice. I know it *sounds* like there are more cons than pros, but I'm really enjoying World 1-1 so far!
We'll keep working on it...not bad when 1/2 the "cons" are easy fixes and smaller game tweaks (button already moved)
Also, I came across a weird bug. Being jailbroken and all, I took a peek in the game files, and edited one of the .plist files (don't remember which, I think it's the one in the Library folder). I edited the "bank" string to 25000.00 so I could test out hardcore mode, and when I loaded the game up, the background and music were the hardcore music, but the game kept playing the same segment over and over: jump over a meteor before it plugs a hole. Had to uninstall to fix it. On a related note, is there a way we beta testers can test out hardcore mode for $0.00?
Some more gameplay video, this time showing the Joystick controls, and several other things fixed that Zeldaniac mentioned... Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel
Looking good! A bit hard to play with screen recorder going, eh? ;P I really like those backgrounds with the stores, is it possible to brighten them a tad? Not so bright as to confuse them with the terrain, but just to make it more vibrant.
We submitted last week, if all goes well it will be out May 9th! The website is now live, world-1-1.com, and a new video: Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel
