I like how simple it seems to be. Can't make out the mechanics. Gonna give it a try tomorrow mguniverse Well-Known Member Sep 30, 2009 93 0 0 http://mguniverse.com #4 mguniverse, Jul 24, 2014 iTunes link: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/kings-corpses/id897817055?ls=1&mt=8 BazookaTime Well-Known Member Sep 30, 2009 5,340 1 36 Kansas http://www.paulmcraelind.com #5 BazookaTime, Jul 24, 2014 Bought this, love the look but I don't really understand how you are to stay alive for very long. mguniverse Well-Known Member Sep 30, 2009 93 0 0 http://mguniverse.com #6 mguniverse, Jul 24, 2014 Keep your pawns alive. Each one that becomes infected is another zombie, and it's easier to move your king if you have more pawns on the grid. Also, play the corners! Pieces cannot move diagonally, use this to your advantage. vectorarchitekt Well-Known Member Dec 29, 2013 2,481 171 63 #7 vectorarchitekt, Jul 24, 2014 Last edited: Jul 24, 2014 Thanks mg universe. A short tutorial would have been nice. Kinda bummed that you can't attack the zombies with the pawns...I feel like there really isn't much you can do vectorarchitekt Well-Known Member Dec 29, 2013 2,481 171 63 #8 vectorarchitekt, Jul 24, 2014 Last edited: Jul 24, 2014 Ok not sure if dev is into update suggestions, if you can't attack or clear the zombies then I would think a slightly larger grid might be necessary....the rest is just white space anyway.... So far I'm unable to see any kind of strategy involved. vectorarchitekt Well-Known Member Dec 29, 2013 2,481 171 63 #10 vectorarchitekt, Jul 24, 2014 Last edited: Jul 24, 2014 Yes, this is exactly the type of phone game I crave, but either I'm just not getting it, or there needs to be more space or at least a way to cancel out/reduce the infected tiles. Top score 21 so far InkyTheGhost Well-Known Member Jul 12, 2012 338 0 0 NYC #11 InkyTheGhost, Jul 24, 2014 Same here. Guess I was expecting a bit more strategy. My best is 19, but only because I kept skipping turns and the zombies didn't come straight for the king. mguniverse Well-Known Member Sep 30, 2009 93 0 0 http://mguniverse.com #12 mguniverse, Jul 24, 2014 My top score is 40. I'm working on an easier mode that reduces the amount of pawns, clearing up the grid a little bit. Also, Game Center leaderboards might keep people interested. What else would you like me to add? vectorarchitekt Well-Known Member Dec 29, 2013 2,481 171 63 #13 vectorarchitekt, Jul 24, 2014 40?! Nice. Just made it to 24. Hey, just so you know I do really dig this game, I love simple clean designs. This is an ideal quick play game that would love to stay on my home screen next to 4 Thrones and Power Grounds If you are adding modes, perhaps one where you can actually take out the zombies in exchange for a pawn similar to real chess? Or, in the easier mode the number of pawns is ok but maybe add two or so more rows to move around in? That would be awesome. mguniverse Well-Known Member Sep 30, 2009 93 0 0 http://mguniverse.com #14 mguniverse, Jul 24, 2014 Nice score! mguniverse Well-Known Member Sep 30, 2009 93 0 0 http://mguniverse.com #15 mguniverse, Jul 24, 2014 These are good suggestions. The futility of Kings & Corpses is a theme I'd like to keep, and implementing a zombie cure of sorts might kill that. When I was first mocking up the game, one of the mechanics I brainstormed was a pawn upgrade where if you survive for a certain number of turns, you can turn one of your pawns into either a knight or a mage or something. Each did different things; the knight could eliminate zombies from the board, and the mage could cure a zombie of it's infection, creating a new pawn. I cut both of these mechanics from the game due to time constraints (remember, this game was a two week project) and because simplicity was a higher concern for me. vectorarchitekt Well-Known Member Dec 29, 2013 2,481 171 63 #16 vectorarchitekt, Jul 25, 2014 This is a great idea! Now that the game is out, I think it'd be great if you finished that. It would still be simple! mguniverse Well-Known Member Sep 30, 2009 93 0 0 http://mguniverse.com #17 mguniverse, Jul 25, 2014 Gotta make sure it fits thematically, but yeah I'll mess with it some more. The App Store is great because updates are free, and I can push out new content very easily once people have paid the one time cost of the game. vectorarchitekt Well-Known Member Dec 29, 2013 2,481 171 63 #18 vectorarchitekt, Jul 25, 2014 Agreed. Very much looking forward to your first update. Even if you had, say, three zombie bombs to use or something just to give a sense of survival. But for now one can certainly say this game is for quick rounds! mguniverse Well-Known Member Sep 30, 2009 93 0 0 http://mguniverse.com #19 mguniverse, Jul 25, 2014 First update is already submitted, and mostly just adds iPad support. The one after that, who knows! Probably Game Center at the very least. vectorarchitekt Well-Known Member Dec 29, 2013 2,481 171 63 #20 vectorarchitekt, Aug 13, 2014 Last edited: Aug 13, 2014 Now we're talking! Love the new knight option. This makes the game quite a bit more enjoyable. I would recommend expanding the play field another row or two... and maybe down the road if you want to really go crazy you could add more chess elements like bishops and the diagonal guys but also zombies with different moves as well.
