Though it does use the official art. pretty low of this developer to do that. But at least he's not asking for any money for it. Still, it's a decent game (though somewhat barebones) and a good tieover until the official one is released. bigred447uk Well-Known Member Apr 16, 2009 1,241 3 38 #4 bigred447uk, Jan 20, 2012 Last edited: Jan 20, 2012 Got it ! In other words, if I figure out how to play this will I be able to jump right into the physical version or the official app when it gets released? cprloe Well-Known Member Oct 17, 2009 830 0 0 Katy, Texas USA #9 cprloe, Jan 20, 2012 Given that the app is free, what is the basis for not downloading? For Dominion clones like Battle of Gundabad, I can understand taking that position because the designers are profiting from an app of questionable legality. But in this case, the designers don't make any money when I hit the "buy" button. Like other posters here, I am a huge Dominion fan and will purchase the official app within 5 minutes of learning it has been released on the App Store, including all IAP for future expansions. But until the official app is released, I don't see the harm in trying this out as a stopgap in the interim. Riggy Well-Known Member Feb 26, 2010 145 0 0 #10 Riggy, Jan 20, 2012 Yep. Absolutely. Also, this game is playable on the iPhone, but the layout is much better on the iPad, with the extra real estate. sizzlakalonji Moderator Staff Member Patreon Silver Patreon Gold Patreon Bronze Apr 16, 2009 5,712 1 0 Indiana, USA #11 sizzlakalonji, Jan 20, 2012 Ok. But I WILL buy the official version the moment it is released! I own the physical versions of the base set, and every expansion released. It is by far a favorite game in my gaming group. To the new and experienced alike, this game is great! StVincent Member Aug 13, 2011 20 0 0 #14 StVincent, Jan 24, 2012 I know this has all the hallmarks of a sketchy ripoff, but after playing it, it really seems more like a labor of love from a fan. I mean this game should have been in the app store a year ago at least. I get the impression that whomever put this together was just trying to fill the void. Looking at Hammer Technologies website, I get the impression that they just put this together to show off. I mean, it's a solid app. Credit where it is due, right guys? StVincent Member Aug 13, 2011 20 0 0 #15 StVincent, Jan 24, 2012 Did a little more digging: The credits on the app go to Valeria Putman and Dale Yu and apparently they are pretty involved with the development of Dominion. Case in point: That's them two with the guy whose name is on the front cover of Dominion. Make of this what you will! TheTheory Well-Known Member Jan 17, 2009 47 0 0 hotel Central PA #16 TheTheory, Jan 24, 2012 All I know is that this app blows Gundabad out of the water. Simple and slick to operate, visually crisp. No flair like with Ascension, but way easier to handle than the aforementioned Gundabad. That said, I will definitely buy the official Dominion when it comes out--those peeps deserve my money. dclose Well-Known Member Nov 20, 2011 1,866 0 0 #17 dclose, Jan 24, 2012 Last edited: Jan 24, 2012 Valerie (not Valeria) Putman and Dale Yu helped flesh out Donald's original creation, they did not work on this app! It's a rough but playable version of an awesome game. Buy the full version when it's out (I plan to), but this is a great short term solution. AI really sucks so far, but fun for testing out builds. I never realized how much Ascension borrowed its concepts from Dominion (although I think I actually prefer Ascension's deal where only a random selection of cards are up for sale at any moment as opposed to everything until their stock runs out. I hope the real game keeps the concept of detailed AI stats. grelb Well-Known Member Jun 23, 2010 53 0 6 New Zealand #20 grelb, Feb 2, 2012 I am very impressed with this version of Dominion. It crashes sometimes when someone plays a Militia, and the count of Provinces in the final stats screen doesnt match up, but otherwise this game fills my daily bus trip and I can think about on some of the subtler nuances of this game (such as how awesome 'Bureaucrat' is, and why 'Smithy' should nearly always be a first turn buy) Awesome game. And if you like this - buy the real boardgame and at least one expansion - and you will have many very grateful friends who nag you daily for a game. (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
