I've had a hankering for action RPGs lately, but it seems anything iOS means "decent progression at first part and then insanely horrific grinding from middle to end game" ie Eternity Warriors 3. Game is fun to play but the drop rates are insultingly bad... it's just impossible to progress without replaying the same level hundreds of times.

So I'm looking for something fun on iOS that I can actively play in an RPG setting (ragnarok, maple story, etc) that has some reasonable leveling/item-acquisition gathering rate where I don't hit a wall all of a sudden. I haven't tried some of the PC ports (maple story/RO) but if one of those is good I'd give it a whirl!

Difficulty doesn't matter to me as long as the gameplay is fun, and i'm fine with paying up front but not really interested in p2w freemiums. Thanks!

i'll take a look at these thanks guys!

Exact-Psience: my example was EW3 because it's the game that broke the camels back. i'm tired of bumbling into fun games only to hit the brick wall that is freemium.

soo... it was time to change strategies instead of trying free games lol

Yeah just make sure you know what you are buying to get the most bang for your buck. There are a good number of high-priced apps but well worth the content and enjoyment you can get from them.

Good luck and have fun with iOS gaming!

Also try Dungeon Hunter 2 it's not optimized for 4" displays though since it's kinda old but it's certainly one of the best ARPGs for iOS and yes it was made by Gameloft before they drove the franchise down lol. Another is Dungeon Defenders: 2nd Wave

I'd actually buy Dungeon Hunter 2 HD but there are several complaints in the latest / newest reviews of some big issues with IOS 7 compatibility, namely that the sound doesn't work, which IMO breaks the game.

I own the original non-HD version of the game, so I'll re-install it on my mini retina and see if I can confirm this.

It seems that a big company like gameloft, even though they still charge $7 for the game, have not bothered to do a single update for around 3 years now. Shame.
