We would like to give you a sneak peek of our new app - Dead Runner
With Dead Runner we wanted to bring out an entirely unique experience combining chilling atmosphere with traditional gaming elements.

Immersed in a nightmare set in a haunted forest you are lost and running away from an unknown evil that is prowling through the woods. You cannot hide or stop for it will find you, catch you and take you..

    Key features:
    - Haunting visuals and intuitive controls – Be afraid, very afraid

    - Choose between Distance and Points modes – How far can you go before the evil claims you?

    - Tell the world who long you survived through Openfeint high score posting – Can you outlive your friends?

    - Randomly generated levels deliver a high level of re-playability – The forest never looks the same so you never know what’s coming next.

    We will see...

That video and the game in general reminds me of the Blair Witch Project.

I can only hope you do more than just run around, having a camera recording you, and then die.

Sounds like a how far you can go game, with a pretty cool setting. I hope the game plays well.

  8. Hi all,

Updated the start of this thread with the game-play trailer. Hopefully that will fill you in on what you do in the game.

Nice video! But OF killed my boner.

  10. We've tried to make it so that OF is not in your face and you can ignore it if you don't want to use it :)

Obviously inspired by Raimi's makeshift scenes in which a camera mounted atop an invisible car would chase unwary hicks all over the place.

I love the look of this game, but it really does seem like it might too simple. If you add some other obstacles that have different effects, or even power-ups, it would add a lot to the gameplay.

It really does look great, though.

I've just decided that this is one of my most anticipated games. It's got style by the bucket full and the simple Boost 3D style of gameplay. Perfect.

Isn't this a lot like Cube Runner though?

  16. We had this 'too simplistic' discussion during development. So, there are two game-play modes. :)

    1. Pure distance mode. Speed gradually increases but you can hit bushes to slow you down a bit. Score is just the distance you get

    2. Points mode. In this mode you collect gold orbs and speed boost pickups that are also score multipliers. So the faster you go the more points you get.

Both modes have their own achievement awards and high-score tables.

You guys could have small upgrades with new modes/options in the future. Like a version with mutiple lights/orbs/whatever forcing you to go in a specific direction, and so on.

As much as i like the idea and the tone, i can see people getting bored pretty fast, as there aren't many things to interact with (compare it to racing or "avoid" racing games, or running games).

First thing i thought of, too.

the textures are kind of blurry...

You should add thick fog and stuff.

    Yeah, it does look simplistic...

But something about it intrigues me so much that I guarantee I'll be buying it as soon as it hits the store. Maybe it just reminds me too much of actual dreams I've had... or something.
