Thought something had happened. When i bought Drop Wizard it was 99p (normally 69p). Again the price rise doesnt matter to me, bit more money for the dev and the games still a bargain

I mean £1 for this excellent game (puts on old mans hat). Back in the 80's most games were pretty dear, you had a range of cheap budget games at £1.99 but it was like russian roulette not knowing if you'll get a dire one you would play for a few minutes etc.

Hopefully a price rise 'might' encourage more premium games, its not a huge price rise as the cheapest games will still be £1 which is great value

I don't think that's related to the rise. Other apps are still available at 69p so I think the dev is just using the alternative pricing tiers which already allows a conversion rate of $0.99=€0.99=£0.99.

I doubt that the alternate tiers will change, but I suspect we'll see 79p or maybe 89p as the new minimum price on the main tier pricing.

As much as I'd like it to encourage more premium games, I doubt that it will. The same price changes will apply to IAPs as well as app prices.

I dunno how it works but would the devs actually get more money or apple and the tax man?
Husband is self employed and when his costs have risen to due changes in vat etc he's had to increase some of his prices, he never actually made any extra money as it was to cover higher vat or higher costs due to higher vat. His is a different business though but wondered if the same would apply here.

I'm not fussed about paying a bit extra. I've noticed more and more titles being 99p instead if 69p so figured it would go that way soon anyway.

Ahhh okay i thought that was the new price for the cheapest games. If games went up to 79p or 89p thats not too bad, i wont re-mortgage the house ;)

    It's on right now :(

Sol Invictus is 0.99$ and 1.14€. Damn that's a huge increase over the usual 0.89€...

(0.99$ is 0.84€ in real life apple...)

That's not Apple being unfair. That's them accounting for the raised VAT now they're having to pay our local rates rather than Luxembourg rates.

The $1/£1/€1 tier on the other hand is Apple being unfair, but that's a different subject.

The prices are all over the place in the UK App Store right now. There are still 69p apps, and most other prices look normal, but there's also a £9.19 and £2.63 and £3.44.

Yeah I knew but it's still quite an awful lot more than I expected.

    Edit:
Mind you, Sol Invictus' pricing might be a mistake. I've been talking with some EU folks and it seems like the normal pricing should be 0.99€ for 0.99$.
    I certainly hope so.

I'm on Canada and see now that some prices have climbed but not all. For instance I noticed Dragon Quest III is still $9.99 yet Knights of the Old Republic is now $11.99. Seems pretty strange. Also Telltale games are still $4.99 for instance Borderlands.

Disregard. I got an error that the item was being modified when I tried to purchase Icewind Dale or Dragon Quest III.

So it will be preferable for dev to release his game in europe , collect the money and change it to US dollars.
    More money for devs.

How do you figure that $0.99=$1.14 is fair, but $0.99=$€0.99 is unfair?

Interesting. UK prices seem to be levelling off at a lower price now.

Football Manager Handheld '15 went from £6.99 to £9.19 and is now back to £7.99.

Games which went from £0.69 to £0.91 are now back to £0.79.

Is the same happening in Euro territories?

EU prices have now been fixed. 0.99€ = 0.99$.

Most Canadian price increases are in the 15-20% range, but there are a few increases as high as 50%. Most 99 cent games are now $1.19, but some are listed at $1.49. $2.99 games are at $3.49, $4.99 games are at $5.79, and $9.99 games are at $11.99.

Also, to be noted is that Apple always charges an extra fee for sales tax to Canadians, but the Google Play store doesn't.
