This RPG is the best Chinese RPG ever made and I'm pretty sure any Chinese here who's even heard of this series will agree with me. You can pretty much compare it to Final Fantasy for Japan. Although the first one in the series was the best, 2-5 are also classics.

Keep in mind this game is available in Chinese only.

Also note that this is NOT the complete PC version. It is a slightly modified version with simplified storyline and more combat.

For us Chinese, this is your chance to play one of the world's best RPGs again on your iDevice.

According to the user comments in the Taiwan appstore, this game apparently plays like Battleheart and is not the full rpg experience one would expect.

The reviewers say it's more of a storybook than a RPG, pity.

Ok just stopped playing after 20 mins.

This is a very traditional RPG pasted into Battleheart style of combat. Everything is dependent on your equipment/level so if your characters aren't up to par, prepare to grind.

There are various conditions on how to ace a stage.
Items gotten.
Time passed.
Scrolls used. (Scrolls give you health)
Characters alive.

The best grade is gold with a jewel in the middle.

Can you play this game without knowing Chinese? Sure. When you click on the armor/weapon, an arrow shows up besides your character stats.

Otherwise, this game is actually pretty good. I was quite surprised to see the Unreal engine movie at the intro though.

Thanks -- will give it a try.

EDIT: Definitely playable without knowing Chinese, at least so far.

Here is a basic run-down of the beginning/introduction of the story (the actual story is WAY more detailed) covered in the game (it includes only
about the first third of the full PC version's story as of now, but updates are planned).

Beginning cutscene:
The Devil-Sealing Tower of Mount Shu collapses, unleashing fiends and monsters trapped within.
Years later.
Mt. Shu sect and the Four Families attack Clear Heaven Cult headquarters. The cult leader Jiang ShiLi covers the escape of NOTSPOILINGTHEPLOT and the scene cuts to black as he is about to defend himself.
Years later.
A young man named Jiang YunFan who was raised in a mountain bandit settlement and adopted by the leader of the bandits
(note: the group is comprised mostly of veterans of war and are pretty good guys despite their occupation-they farm, hunt, etc
and do not give the nearby townsfolk any trouble) is helping the young (about 7 or 8 years old) daughter of the second-in-command of the settlement catch a bird, neglecting his guard duties. He is caught by his father and sent to sentry duty.

Cutscene:
A girl dressed in yellow is pursued by a group of aggressive monkeys. She trips and is about to be attacked when Jiang YunFan jumps to her defense.

YunFan rescues Tang YuRou who came up to the
mountain to gather medicine and was being attacked by demonized monkeys. YunFan's adopted bandit father teaches him his
signature trump card move (something something slash-the one we see in the iOS game as a personal skill). Later, our
protagonist helps the girl find the medicinal plant she was looking for, defeating the demonized monkey leader (controlled by
someone in secret and used on YunFan as a test of sorts to determine his identity) and being injured in the process. Strangely,
YunFan quickly recovers from the normally deadly poisonous wound. The two share a moment as they descend the mountain
and YuRou plays a new melody of her creation on the flute and allows YunFan to name it. As a compassionate doctor trained and skilled in
medical techniques, YuRou stays for a while and attends to the bandits' medical conditions (coughing, back pain, etc). The
girl's father (Tang Hai), a prominent wealthy figure in the area, brings his servants to the bandit settlement and demands her daughter, then brings her home. YunFan gets scolded for being headstrong and not being calm when dealing Tang Hai. YunFan
finds a flute YuRou left by accident and decides to return it to her sometime. YunFan goes out to get some good alcoholic
drinks for his adopted father's birthday.

Anyway. That's a rough summary of what happens during the intro of the game (one or two "levels." or around 5% of the iOS game and 2% of the full game). I don't think I can write the all of the plot here without making mistakes or leaving out important details. I will add more if I have time.
Hope you guys like this game. It has received unfair criticism from a lot of fans of the series for breaking away from traditional RPG elements the PC series is known for (turn based combat, in-depth cutscenes and dialogue, etc), but for what it's meant to be I find it to be an excellent effort on this iOS debut title of the series. You can check my review on the app store for my other thoughts.'

Here's the homepage for the app.
